This weekend I found hood LC grapefruit juice. Growing up I lived in Florida so I will say it's not the real thing but it's very much like the other grapefruit cocktail type drinks you can get out there and is definately worth buying if you miss your juice!! I think it's something like 3 net carbs for an 8oz glass of it.

I finally found the OJ at Ralphs (Kroger). It's not as good as fresh orange juice, of course, but I thought it was worlds better than that Crystal Light stuff. And unlike real orange juice, it didn't give me the shakes afterward.

I thought the grafefruit juice was excellent. I wonder what it would taste like with a little bit of gin :D :yum:

Does anyone know if Hood products are sold in Northern California? I see that San Diego has them at Ralph's, but I haven't seen them at the Ralph's in my area. I'm near Grass Valley, north of Sacramento.

I checked Hood's web page and it is not specific about which stores outside of New England carry it.

Thanks!

In N. Calif. I found a couple of flavors at Raleys. I've found that Raleys stores vary greatly in their product stocking though.

The Nob Hill store in Redwood Shores, CA has both the Carb Countdown Orange Juice and the Pineapple, Orange and Banana Juice in stock. Picked them up today - very good !

For those of you who miss drinking fruit juice, CARB COUNTDOWN has now come out with juice that tastes just like regular juice. They have orange juice and pineapple/orange and I think one other flavor. It tastes a LOT better than the Atkins or Crytal Lite fruit drinks and is only 5 carbs and 25 calories for 8 oz. I usually only drink 4 oz. in a small juice glass each morning so that is half the carbs and calories.

We found some grapefruit at the WalMart at which I shop and I've never seen it on the shelf again. I bought it for my teenage daughter and she liked it. I tried it and I loved it! I know some of the other WalMarts carry it but I'm not going to drive that far to get it. Unfortunately the carton made it to the trash before I got to check out all the ingredients.

The ingredients on the box are..

water, grapefruit juice concentrate, orange pulp, citric acid, natural flavors, locust bean gum, sodium citrate, gum arabic, ascorbic acid, xanthan gum, saib(stabilizer), sunflower oil, sucralose (splenda brand), Glycerol Ester of wood rosin, acesulfame potassium, maltol, guar gum, beet extract (color, annatto extract (color).

Nutrition info
contains 10% juice

serving size 8oz
calories 25
fat 0
total carb 5
sugars 2
vitamin c 100%

By the little Atkins stamp it says to subtract 2 carbs from the total for the organic acids which leaves you with 3 net carbs per 8oz glass.

I haven't a clue what some of the ingredients are but I can say the juice is good stuff going off taste alone. ;)

I bought the Orange today. I had it once before and I think it's good, kinda a cross between OJ and Sunny Delight.

Today, I mixed in some vanilla whey protein powder and OMG wonderful orange cream smoothie ... YUM!

I almost bought some today but I noticed the sell by date for all 14 cartons was Sept 18! Do they have a short shelf life?

I am finally delurking here and have to say that this is one cool site! :doah:

I have half a ruby red grapefruit every morning and it never knocks me out of ketosis. Grapefruit is really low on the glycemic index. I even sprinkle half a Splenda packet or a whole depending on the natural sweetness of the fruit and still does not knock me out of ketosis. I have even done this on induction and had no problems.

There seems to be something satiating about grapefruit to me. I can have half a ruby red at 6 am for breakfast, and I am not hungry until mid afternoon. YMMV of course!

I will have to look for this, I do like the Cyrstal Light Sunrise that taste like OJ and has no carbs.

OMG, this stuff is good! Tried the Orange Pineapple flavor. Also bought the plain orange. Super Walmart has them 2 for $3.00 all varieties. The expiration date on the container I purchased on Sep 23, was Oct 24.

I was happy to find these products last night at the grocery store. They were on sale for $2 per carton.

I tried the Pineapple Orange Banana and thought it was quite good.
