Kraft is out with a CarbWell 0g Carb Creamy French Dressing. I tried it today and it was really good. French dressing, like Italian, is one of those where all normal types are usually too high. Generally, I've stuck with Ranch, Blue Cheese, and Caesar. So this is a nice change. Salads are the center of my veg world, and I've been using the CarbWell Dressings for a while, now. I think they are a great way to eliminate extra carbs.

PS: I noticed they also came out with 2 "Light" CarbWell Dressings, Italian and Ranch. 0g Carbs AND only a few g's of fat, compared to 10-12g.

I found 2 bottles of it at a discount grocery store in my area --bottles just slightly dented -- 2/$1.

It's fairly good, a little runny, but not too bad. Great with chicken.

It's the only CarbWell dressing I have tried so far.

Looking at the ingredients on the labels of these dressings, it's obvious that they must have some carbs. So... I decided to contact Kraft with my inquiry.

My first email:

The CarbWell Dressings are listed as 0g carbohydrates per 1oz. serving, but
is it possible to get a more specific carb count? It might seem trivial, but it
adds up.

To which I got the following response:

Thanks for visiting our website!

For carbohydrate information on this product, please refer to the Nutrition
facts panel on the product packaging.

 :daze:

In my follow up:

I DID look at your Nutrition facts panel on the product packaging; that's why I sent you the question in the first place. I said I was trying to get a more specific carb count, as I'm sure that there is some fractional part of a carbohydrate in a serving and not literally 0 grams. If, for example, it has .49 grams, it would still be listed as 0. When you are limiting carbohydrates, several uncounted grams in a few servings of salad dressing make a difference. If you don't have access to that data, I understand, but please be aware that I am well aware of the information stated on the label.

To which I received this:

Thanks for taking the time to contact us.

Unfortunately, the information you are looking for is not available. The
most up to date information would be found on the package. Our information
indicates that we have 0 grams and we are unable to obtain the exact amount you are looking for.

I am sorry to disappoint you and I wish I could help you out.

Oh, well... :( Just thought I pass on the lack of info and go back to counting it as 1 carb.

Ok, so when something is listed as 1g of carb, is it safe to assume it may contain up to 1.99g? Does 2g really mean up to 2.99g, and so on? I've often wondered this.

I've wondered the same thing. It appears to be a somewhat unregulated thing.

Last night, I bought a package of organic chicken sausage that showed 0g carbs with 1g of fiber. Does this mean that if I eat enough of that sausage, I'll actually erase all my other carbs for the day? :)

On the cartons, heavy whipping cream was listed at 0g, while light whipping cream was listed at 1g; but my USDA database lookup showed .42g for heavy and .44g for light.

I guess you just do the best you can to get things reasonably close.

I'd just count as one carb for anything that says 0g, because that 0g product is probably .35 or .52 or whatever, and the rest of that 1g carb that you count should make up for whatever other item you eat that you count as 2g but really is 2.3g.

Don't stress about it, I did and it made me really super anal retentive. Now that I use fitday.com, I am relaxed about exact counts. If they say mayo has none, thats what I go with.
