Hi,
I'm on a very strict low-carb diet (due to health problems). I have to eat small meals every 2-3 hours and not let my glucose get above 100. I feel good, however I've noticed that I'm having a very hard time building muscle mass. My muscles have actually diminished and regardless of what sort of exercise I do, the muscles stay the same.
Anyone else have this problem? If so, any fixes?
thanks

Are you eating enough protein?
Are you on any medications?
Post a few days menu and see if someone can help.

The cholesterol-lowering statin drugs, as well as Levaquin the antibiotic, are notorious for causing muscle problems.
Without knowing more, it's hard to say whether it's the WOE or other health problems.

If you're on statins, you should call your doc IMMEDIATELY! If they are the cause of the muscle wasting, it could also affect your heart! Remember, the heart is a muscle too!

If I were on statins, I wouldn't bother calling my docor; I'd throw the statins in the garbage and find another doctor. Also if you are on statins, you should be taking CoQ10 as the statins deplete it and your heart kind of needs it. Of course if you take statins long enough (five years fo statins to prolong the lif of one out of 71), CoQ10 depletion will probably be the least of your worries.
Any WOE with sufficient fat and protien should not in any way cause muscle loss.
Good Luck
