I tried taking mine at night for a while. About 1.5-2hrs after my last meal. All of a sudden I had hypo symptoms again, dizziness, weakness, cold..blah.

Started taking them first thing in the morning a few weeks ago and they went away.

I wanted to take them at night because it's easier. I hate having to wait an hour before eating and another 4hrs before taking supps.

Anyone else notice a difference? Just wondering.

Well...I don't think taking it at night would solve anything...it speeds up the heart rate and that alone would keep anyone from sleeping well at night....

As for taking it in the morning....I've been told two different ways of doing it. First one is to take it as soon as you arise, wait an hour, eat, wait a couple more hours, then take other supplements. The other is to take it as soon as you arise, and follow an established routine...such as eat, take supplements, etc....just as long as the routine does not change significantly every morning. The latter is apparently what my physician recommended (I say "apparently" because I was diagnosed hypo 37 years ago...and I really don't remember the terminology, but I do know however I was doing it remained "okay" over the years...). I read (and had this confirmed by a medical professional) that the important thing is to take it at the same time in the morning...before you eat anything else....and follow your established routine. As long as you do it the same way every morning, your meds can be adjusted to fit your lifestyle and needs.

Actually I take my thyroid when I get up...along with a few supplements designed to enhance it....then, probably within half an hour, I eat breakfast....and within an hour I'm taking a few other supplements for other reasons. This works for me...

I hope you find what works for you!! :D

Yeah I was told by my doctors it didn't matter when I took it, as long as it was on an empty stomach, 4hrs away from calcium and at the same time everyday.

Taking it first thing in the morning, eating an hour or so later and waiting 4hrs before taking any supplements is working. Just a pain since I would rather take most of my supps in the morning and get them out of the way. I also don't like waiting an hour to eat. (Supposed* to eat first thing in the morning on the diet I'm on =/ ) I hate being a junkie.

Since I've become very good at drinking litres of water every day (I follow the formula of 64oz + 8oz for every 25 lbs. you have to loose) I wake up to pee around 5am every morning. I've put my synthroid in one of those daily pill organizers next to the bed with a bottle of water and most days manage to take the little blue pill while still groggy and fall asleep for another couple of hours. When the alarm goes off I check too see if I remembered, take it if I haven't, then get on with my day.

This has made a remarkable improvement in my energy levels as well as my ability to face the morning. For years of taking my thyroid "sometime" after I got up in the morning - before or after breakfast - whenever I could remember it... I had been snooze button girl, miserable until at least mid-morning, not wanting to get out of the shower because it was so nice and warm - you know how it is. Now I'm this go-getter who's alert at 8am and ready to take on the world. Sure I run out of steam around 10:30-11:00 pm but I've been going to the gym after work! This from a person who a year ago couldn't get off the couch to make dinner after work. My doctor doesn't see any change in my levels - so I figure it must be the timing of my dose. I have a feeling all the water doesn't hurt either.

Hmmmm....what I am hearing from Keto and Nil makes me wonder that if I experimented in such a manner....would it help my sluggish metabolism too? My water-drinking habits have me getting up a couple hours in the morning before I have to....so it might work for me to take my "little blue pill" at that time.

It's an idea worth considering.....thanks....
