I am going to add tortillas to my diet now and then, and I wondered which brand is the best tasting?
I know they are high in fiber, which is one reason I want to add them, but also just because they will be so convenient to have on hand for a hurried lunch or supper.
I have only tasted the LC tortillas that they have at Subway. They tasted pretty good, but the texture felt a little "rubbery" to me...are they all like that?
Any thought and opinions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.
I can almost taste those fajitas now. Yumm :yum:

I like Mama Lupe's, which I order from netrition.com. Stay away from the LaTortilla Factory ones, which are rubbery and taste like a soy frisbee.

Lately I have been buying the LC Mission Flour tortillas at Super Wal-Mart. I think they're a little plain, but they're exactly like regular flour tortillas. I just enjoy the whole-wheat taste of the Mama Lupe's more, but it's more convenient to buy them in Wal-Mart than to order online.

I've been happy with the "Santa Fe Tortilla Company 'carb choppers'" that Sam's Club carries. My experience with others are nil, though. Still, it's inxepensive, and a rather large tortilla.

Don Pancho is my favorite brand. (Its also a locally owned company. I think they maybe at least available in the Northwest) They have a large Burrito size(5 net carbs) and a smaller taco size (3 net carbs). They are whole wheat and wonderfully full of flavor. I do my own wraps and my favorite way to fix a quick snack is to cover it with butter, sprinkle a little Splenda and cinnamon and stick it under the broiler for a minute or two. Instant cinnamon toast.

I like Mission's the best, but some object to the trans fats. I've given them up for now, though. I think I may have a problem with wheat.

Thanks Hilary!

I had gave up on eating tortillas because of hydrogenated oils and I checked on these and they have none!

I am going to place my order right now!

I had a coupon for Mission so gave them a try. I really like them and they make great pizza crust! Only problem is the dad-gummed shortening. I'm not into the whole wheat taste in tortillas, but Don Poncho's are pretty good. They tend to bloat me some so I don't eat them often, or more than 1/2. It's just too much of a good thing! ;)

Mama Lupe's are the best, I tried the La Tortillas and didn't like them. Mama Lupe's taste more like a "normal" tortilla.

I also say Mama Lupes. I get them at Kroger.

Thanks for all the good advice and opinions!
I LOVE the "cinnamon toast" idea too! Sounds like a nice idea for breakfast now and then.

I get the Mission brand - regular and whole wheat. I tried another brand and the basically crumbled in my hand when you folded them. My DD even likes Mission tortillas! I agree with Lila - they do make a great pizza crust too! :)

My local Priceshopper just started with the Toufayan low carb tortillas. 7 net carbs, 9 fiber, no trans fats, and just as good as the regular wraps to my taste buds.

I'm in wrap heaven!

I've been looking all over town for a low-carb wrap and didn't find one until recently. The only one I can find is called the "California Wheat Wrap." They are high in fiber and have 8 grams of carbs per wrap, but they're HUGE and I would only eat half a wrap at a time. They keep them in the cold case at the grocery I usually go to and they look quite tasty.

I'm going to try them next week. Burritos and veggie wraps... mmmmmm!

These turned out to actually be called "Cali-Wraps" and are very tasty. 8 net carbs and high in fiber. Not too gummy unless you get them really wet with sauce. Over I'd give them an A rating.
