I took a peek at your journal and my guess (and it's a guess) is you're bored with your food you've been eating and I think you resent it a little that you can't have ___________ (just fill in the blank or do you need more of them? ). And having family offer you stuff you know you can't have...well, you could do what I did and 'take their heads off' with a lecture on why you're doing Atkins and how rude, inconsiderate, and insensitive they are when they tease you with foods you can't eat ... you only have to do it once (alright, I had to do it twice at hubby but he really deserved it the second time the cad...he went and got these heavily frosted breakfast buns during my 4th week --the brand will be nameless--and he offered me some of the frosting on a knife saying "Go ahead, I won't tell.")

Do you have any low carb cookbooks? I got Dana Carpenters' 500 lc recipes when I first started cause the DANDR book didn't have that many of them and our library can never keep those kinds of cookbooks in long enough for me to get at them :D ... then I made a PROMISE to try at least one new recipe out of the thing once a week. It required a bit of effort on my part cause a few of them were main dishes but I kept to that pledge and I've found to my surprise that it's darn fun! :D The recipes are delicious. Okay I had one 'bomb' but it was my fault as I had deviated from the recipe ...

I also made a pledge not to fix two different meals. I fix one meal that's Atkins acceptable for everybody and if the others want a heavy carbage thing, there's stale bread in the freezer and old jelly in the fridge...yeah, I'm mean...I mean business! I firmly believe that Atkins is a healthier way of eating and I want my family to be healthy too.

I also read where you like tomatoes. One medium tomato (about 2-3/5" it said), raw, according to fitday has 5.7 carbs and 1.35 g fiber for a net of 4.4...that's not too bad. You could probably budget 10 carbs and have a 2- tomatoe orgy til you get it out of your system. ;) ...

Nice note and good advice Busy! I don't have the same issues as sharpy - just the two of us these days and both committed, but I am struggling. So stupid too - you would think seeing photos that depressed me would have just the opposite reaction. Fortunately I don't go whole hog and eat breads etc but I do get careless about counting carbs in general. Tonight for example I made the chicken enchiladas and didn't measure the salsa or the cheese knowing full well I was adding more than I needed. But I am still of the mind that so long as I eat real food and avoid sugar and wheat I will still lose eventually since even on my worst days I never consume more than 35 carbs.

Thanks again for a good post.

Your post about your DH, Busyamom, reminds me of my husband when I quit smoking years ago (he's a smoker) - he came up to me and blew smoke right in my face!!! Well, he only did it ONCE

He did try to tempt me when I was baking cookies at Christmas time - you know, we're putting up the tree, got the carols playing, eggnog and fresh baked cookies -- "come on, one won't hurt"... Once I explained ketosis and being set back for 3 whole days by eating that cookie, he hasn't tried to tempt me since...

Sorry, back to the original question :o :o

I was going thru this exact same thing for most of the month of July (and off and on before that). I'm now on Day 11 of full re-Induction. What worked for me is just starting with the next meal, it was LC...then the next one, then the next one... next thing I know, I'm 2 days into Induction, feeling sooooo good and in control and better about myself and I'm off and running.

Try to start with your next bite of food/meal, etc. Baby steps, hon

Take care,

Nicole

I did very well the first week of induction last march..I got away from it and it's taken me this long to get back on track...
I'm hoping it last as well..I''m on day 7 of strict induction...I still haven't mastered cooking one meal for the family..
Good luck...
