Hiya All...

I suffered a slipped disc a few years ago and although the disc has gone back into place i still get terrible back pain. This gets worse when i have just started a diet.... does anybody know why this happens? it has happened on Slimming World and Weight Watchers, the Atkins and now the South Beach.... if any one has any ideas on what could cause this please holler!!!

Thanks
Tina x

I had back surgery 2 years ago do to a ruptured disc. My question would be, when you start a new diet are you also starting an exercise program at the same time? That may be what's causing your disc to flair up. I would see your doctor asap and discuss this with him/her.

I can't imagine what could cause back pain from dieting, except what Gidjee mentioned above.

I had back surgery in 2002 for two severely herniated disks.... after almost 10 years of suffering with sciatica. I definately know what it's like.

I'd talk to your doctor and ask him what could be causing it.

Disks float on a cushion of a jelly-like substance that is mostly water.

The first thing that happens with ANY diet is a loss of water from the body.

This could shrink any disks and cause nerves to have to realign themselves.

Anyone who has had back troubles, or who wants to avoid it: I can't think of a better book than the one that cured my bad knee:
