I have been on vacation for the past 5 days and had to eat out a lot. I thought I would gain a lot of weight but suprisingly I lost 2 more lbs. It is all about the choices you make at each restaurant. In my journal, I posted each restaurant I went to and what I ate there. I thought it might be helpful to fellow sbders.

I just read your entry in your journal for your vacation week. I may be newby here in SB land, but it seems to me that you did extremely well on the circumstances. I say "GOOD FOR YOU":cheer:

I just came back from vacation and was fretting for weeks before - Romania, Bulgaria and Greece - wasn't expecting low carb anything - but they were better than American hotels - breakfast bar was wonderful for South Beach, and fresh fish (leave the potatoes) and Mediterranian appetizers are great.

I travel a lot and the only major problem I have had several times is when I am stuck at a meeting in a stuffy hotel room for long hours and we started at 8 am and want to be done by 2 pm and dont do a break - then the hotel serves bagels and orange juice or something like that - and I can choose between getting my body into starvation mode and eating carbs.

I now ALWAYS take "just cheese" snacks with me (basically dried bits of cheese) Atkins power bars might be ok too but I don't like them and don't like the "Frankenfood" aspect of them, and if I can, take also an apple - even if I steal it from the breakfast buffet, so I can have something to get over such periods.

Overall, I completely agree - SBD is very adjustable to vacations, eating out, etc.
