I was feeling kind of crappy a little while ago...tired, felt funny....so I checked my blood sugar.....it said 78. Is that considered low? I have a blood sugar monitor from being pregnant but really don't know much about sugar levels. Any thoughts?

I have chronic low blood sugar and for me 78 is where I'd start feeling a little funny. I find that if I eat veggies at every meal, doesn't have to be much, that my blood sugar stays more stable that way and no weak spells. When my blood sugar was dropping today I ate a small Roma tomato, they have 3 carbs, but it brought my blood sugar up and no spike after wards. I ate meat to keep it stable as well.

I'll definitely back Lisa up on the meat thing. Even on 20 grams of carbs a day my blood sugar is stable unless I get too hungry or don't eat protein with every meal. Generally speaking I eat from 3 to 4 ounces and this helps just loads.

That's something my diatician suggested was eating protien to keep the bloodsugar stable. It does work, thankfully. :) No more up and downs for me, well...unless I wait too long to eat then I feel the drop in bloodsugar for sure. :) Sometimes you have to eat whether you're hungry or not. Even if its only a small amount of something to get your bloodsugar back up just enough to tolerate until you can get a good meal in you.

Either side of that indicates a bit of a problem. Protein + fat keeps everything stable for me but in the old days with carbs!! .
