Hey there,
Is there a cheesecake or something one can have on induction because
I am in Canada and our sugar-free jello has ASPARTAME :o
Thanks

There is if you don't mind making it yourself!!!!

Chocolate Cheesecake

12 packets sugar substitute
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
1 cup cold water, divided
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon grated orange or lemon zest
1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon extract
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

1. In small saucepan, sprinkle gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water. Let soften 1 minute. Stir over low heat until dissolved; set aside.
2. Place cream cheese in large bowl and beat with an electric mixer at high speed until fluffy. Beat in sugar substitute, zest and vanilla. At low speed, beat in dissolved gelatin and remaining cold water.
4. Beat in chocolate. Divide into 12 paper muffin cups. Refrigerate 3 hours.

They have about 3 grams of net carbs each and you'd never know they were low carb. If you desperately need a crust you can use ground pecans and butter. :yum:

And you can also look in safeway for Juicy-Jells (4 cups in a package) in the pudding section. The sugar free ones are sweetened with Splenda. This is one thing that I don't think you can get in the US for once :p !

Jaboonee,
thanks!
great progress! how long has it been?
thanks a lot, I expect the first week to bother me ie. diet, but
will having these desserts ruin my weight loss or cause carb cravings if I have yeast?

Except that one is supposed to stick with hard cheeses like Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby etc while on Induction. And only a few ounces daily. Cream cheese and other soft cheeses are for later.

I started in October 2003 and made really fast progress in the first few months. I guess the reason i don't think of not being able to have cream cheese on induction is because I have pretty much stayed on Induction the whole time. It is true though, you should probably save this treat for after you've finished 2 weeks. I have found that treats like this ahve not affected my weight loss and even sugar alcohols didn't in the first few months. Now that I am closer to my goal weight I find that I am less tolerant to the sugar alcohols so I have to cut those out. I do have the cheesecake and even make my own ice cream in an ice cream maker that's really good too. I also found after the induction was done that my cravings were minimal. I made a point also of avoiding Aspartame bacause it can make you crave sugar!

Good Luck and stick with it! As soon as you start seeing the results, you will have all the motivation in the world to stick with it!

Dear Jaboonee,
now I am confused, and I do not want to ruin my losses, as so far I have lost 4lbs in 2 days (water) but my body fat is the same! I am having cravings for which I am about to go grocery shopping for my food this week. I was thinking of special recipes like brocolli cheese soup, homemade ice-cream, and the chocolate cheesecake recipe someone posted above. Which are a bad idea, I am sorry I still am not clear as the forum founder said 2-3 fl oz heavy cream and 3-4 oz of cream cheese is ok on induction. I am so confused!!! and do not want to start gaining or ruin my state of ketosis if in fact I am in it.
PS other than juici jells what can I have as a treat - homemade spinach artichoke dip??? :help: decadent chocolate cake on atkins website?

Sorry to confuse you. Tofi was incorrect when she said you cannot have Cream cheese. The Atkins WEbsite says this about what cheese you can have during induction:

OTHER FOODS THAT ARE ACCEPTABLE DURING INDUCTION

Cheese
You can consume three to four ounces daily of the following full-fat, firm, soft and semisoft aged cheeses*, including:

cheddar
cow, sheep and goat cheese
cream cheese
Gouda
mozzarella
Roquefort and other blue cheeses
Swiss

I think you will be okay if you make the cheesecake. Just remember to make 12 portions and don't have more than 1 per day! When in doubt the Atkins website can be a great resource when you are confused. Also as for what you can have as a treat, check out the recipes on the atkins website and they will always say reight beside what you can and cannot have during induction. There are also some really great cookbooks out there. I think the key is to be creative and try different things so that you don't get bored. If you are anything like me, if you get bored with your diet you are going to cheat! I hope I helped eliminate some confusion that I helped to create! :D :D :D
