Hi, I am a 25 year old female and suffers from yeast infection almost monthly. It all started 4 years ago when I got bladder infection for the first time, and naturally I took antibiotic to clear the infection. After that episode, I seem to be more prone to getting bladder infection. Most of the time, I can feel the onset, and drink plenty of water to counter the symptoms without taking any antibiotics. About 3 years ago, I got yeast infection for the first time. I don't know it was because of my bladder infection or just the fact that I am getting older and women during childbearing age often have more yeast infections. I didn't know what it was at first, but the culprit was identified after some routine tests. From that time forward, I have yeast overgrowth almost monthly, usually a couple of days before my period. Most of the time, it is not serious and the symptoms go away after a day or two. When I do get a full blown infection, it certainly interferes with my life. I have expressed my concern with my gynecologist before, but all she can offer is that some women just get yeast infections, and its mostly hormonal. I am frustrated that all the yeast infection treatment are so shortsighted. Can a little pill or a small tube of cream really eliminate the infection or do they just eleviate some of the symptoms, but leave behind a dormant infection ready to wreck havoc next month? My libido has gone way down, and I suspect I have yeast infection constantly, and it just become a full blown one during those few "wonderful" days before period. Do you have similar problems?

Hi, I am 29 and have had yeast problems for over 3 years now. Treatments with a single pill never sorted the problem for longer than a week or two. I suggest you go to a specialised sexual health clinic where the doctors are more likely to take this chronic condition seriously. I did just that and had 2 consecutive treatments - first they traditionally gave me the 1 tablet and some cream - no joy. On the following check up I got 5 tablets which I had to take 1 every 3 days + different cream which seems to have sorted my problems and I've been feeling OK for 6 months now. Doctor said have I not been cured they would have increased the dose! So basically 1 pill doesn't do the trick. The other advice they gave me is to use ONLY Aqueous Cream to wash (this is a sort of gentle wash with Emulsifying ointment - very mild - works wonders on moiturising the skin and you can use it as a facial wash too)

I hope you find this info useful. You can get rid of the thing! Of course the LC diet helps too.
Good luck

Thanks Vess, but I see that you are from UK. Here in the state, the most pill you can get at one time is 2 (greedy insurance company), and gynecologist is consider to be specialist (as oppose to general physician), and takes several months to set up an appointment.

It was hard to get an appointment here too. Believe me I know how you feel and I hope you get better. The yeast thing just goes on forever and is very frustrating. I have read a massive long thread here about Oil of Oregano. Some people swear by it. Says on the net it kills the yeast. This is the link to the thread

I am planning to buy some myself tomorrow and will post how it goes as I am sure that my problem resurrected after holiday - swimming always does that to me :(
