The more I learn about the various low carb plans out there the more I find that most of them are really the same plan each with their own refinements. I've been exploring various forums and threads other than Atkins which is the Plan that has helped me lose over 50lbs. I suspect that one day when the majority of the population has cut back on high sugar consumption and too many refined grains, etc. that there will not be an official plan but that everyone will be eating what I'm calling here "The Ultimate Plan".
In order to help us all expand our viewpoint with the idea of evolving this WOE toward the ultimate plan I would like to invite all members to explore other plan area threads within this forum and see what we can learn about the other plans. Go and ask questions of the other members who are expert in their respective areas. Lately I have found that Protien Plan (the plan of choice of our fearless forum founder) has some interesting viewpoints as well as the newly discovered "Semi Low Carb Forum". See you there!

i've read all the books prior to choosing atkins, but i must admit that i have adopted some of the things from other plans into my wol- ie... i dont eat as much fat as atkins suggests, i keep it lower like sbd & eat more protien than fat, like pp. i truly believe reading about other plans is helpful because not every1 is the same as we've found, some people are sensitive to nuts or cheese or sugar alcohols, which are all found in atkins woe, its nice to have alternatives from other plans. plus, sbd has some killer recipes :)

Great idea. I think one of the best things you can do is keep learning about this WOE. It keeps you motivated, and you can learn new reasons to keep doing what you're doing.
I highly recommend Protein Power Lifeplan for seasoned low carbers. Only the last chapter details the PP plan, the rest of it is packed with information on how nutrition impacts your body. Excellent book.

I know many people, including myself at one time, that incorporated some aspects of several plans and were successful...so whatever works for you..go for it!

thought provoking paragraph.
My S.O. does the South Beach plan because she hates consuming all that fat.
My sister and friends are all vegetarians, that can't stand the thought of eating tons of fat.
I differeniate between this plan, and SoBe plan because, I too, can't stomach all the fat we're sposed to consume.
My S.O. and i have discussed in depth, what would happen if the world went vegetarian? Well for one...... no more cows, no more chickens, a lot of the animals would not become extinct.... We would be leaner, and meaner, and hang those that lie, and put us in danger.
But..... that's not going to happen. No one is going to stop manufacturing fast foods, convenience foods, sugar laden foods, and corporate greed.
It's going to be up to us to see through the lies and deceit and act accordingly. Isn't this election year?
