:help: I've been on SB phase1 for 3 weeks now & have only lost 2 pounds, meanwhile I keep reading & hearing about people losing 10-12 pounds by now.... I feel tired all the time & have NO energy. I told myself I'd give it 3weeks to get used to it, but thought I'd atleast lose some weight to help me feel better about this lack of energy! But I havn't! I'm a runner, I work out at the gym atleast 2-3 times a week and also do yoga. I walk everywhere and generally lead an active lifestyle, but have had to cut back due to this lack of energy.... What's going on???? Can anyone help before I toss in the towel?

Awww. Don't be too discouraged. When you see people losing mass amounts of weight they generally have a LOT more to lose than you do. When I was on induction (Even though it was atkins) I didn't lose all that much. I lost much better as my carbs increased. Is it possible that you aren't eating enough? I know that was the case when I was tired. Spreading out my meals and having 6 smaller meals really helped too.

Eating too little? I never thought about that... I'm not going to the bathroom regularly since starting SB, my stomach is always feeling "HUGE", and I assumed I was eating too much. In the afternoons I often feel dizzy & light headed when I stand up from my desk and have had to sit down to re-gain my composure... but yet I don't feel hungry... I'm confused...

Breakfast: 1 egg+1egg scambled with 1 cup veggies (onion+any leftovers from last night - zucchini, mushrooms, etc..)
Snack (if hungry): 2 lettuce wraps (turkey or Yves vegetarian turkey)
Lunch: salad with tuna, salmon or beans, SF Jello
Snack: celery with 1 wedge Laughing Cow Light or 1T P.B. or handfull nuts
Dinner: 1 serving lean meat or Veg burger with 2 servings veggies (zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.)
Does this look ok?

Have you tried using fitday? It's a pain to take the time and plug everything in sometimes but it might help you to pinpoint the problem... say if your protein is super low or you calories are way low. I would think you calories must be really low if you are using veggie meats most the time. Other than that it actually looks fine. Since you are in week three you might want to start adding some stuff back in like a fruit or extra veggies. I'm sure your fiber is low which would attribute to that bloated feeling.

I'm certainly not in your league with the amount I have to lose compared to what you want to lose but I have been having very good success on SBD and the first couple of weeks, I did feel the way you are feeling. I made a few changes:
1- I stopped having eggs everyday for breakfast and have them only 1-2 times per week. Breakfast is more of the small salad with either a can of tuna or salmon or a scoop of low fat cottage cheese.
2- I cut back on the amount of low fat cheese I was eating everyday as it did make me constipated.
3- I started out eating meat/chicken for dinner and again was not only not losing weight but not feeling great so I made a change here too and started eating alot of fresh fish filets for dinner.
4-I got an indoor grill so that cooking and cleaning is fast and easy.
It would be helpful for you to start to journal your food here so that we can watch what you are eating and try to help you there too. If you click on my journal button below, you can see what Ive been eating daily.
I did fitday for a couple of days and that is where I realized that the eggs were high in fat. It was an eye opener!!
Hope this helps!! :D

Just a couple of thoughts for you:
1. Get onto Phase 2. Adding more balance to your diet will probably put your body into "lose" mood.
2. The weakness, dizziness, and light-headedness is more than likely coming from a lack of carbs in your diet. I know I simply could not go past 6 days on Phase 1 because of the lack of energy, dizziness, light-headedness, etc. When I started adding carbs back in (oatmeal, cereal, occasional slice of bread, fruit) I began to re-gain my energy and all the dizziness/light-headedness went away. Some people can do Phase 1 without any problems, others can't. I would begin to add some carbs in your diet and see how it goes.
Good luck!

you sound pretty active, too, with the running and yoga and other stuff - maybe you just need more calories? I find that all the veggies pretty much keep me regular - but then I make a point of a HUGE salad (w/ protein) for lunch. (note: I'm on CAD, not SB - although DH started SB today, so I'm reading this thread)

Hi,
I've got a few suggestions.
1) If you're tired, I'd ask if you're taking a MEGAvitamin. When I don't, I get tired, lose energy, etc.
2) Did you take measurements?? You don't have a LOT of weight to lose like many did, so your loss would probably NOT be 10-12lbs the first week.
3) If this is a way of life instead of a diet, be patient. If you are "shape changing" (see #2) your weight won't go down much, but you'll be slimmer (and isn't that why we do this??)
4) you "might" not be getting enough calories as people have said
5) Check the nutrition label for carbs on the fudgecicles and the ricotta cream thing. Don't trust the "net carbs", a lot of people stall on the sugar alcohols, use the number on the nutrition label and subtract only the fiber
6) How much water are you drinking?? Your body needs the water to make this work.
Anyway... don't get frustrated, and I hope some of this helps you!!!
Mike
