Good morning! I thought it was time to remind ourselves of our motto:
Today I will make good choices. I will eat only those foods that are healthy for me. I will do something physical, even if it's only to walk around the block or pick up a room or do the laundry. I will concern myself only with today. I can't do anything about yesterday, and tomorrow is too far away. I can and will influence today. Today I will give as much support, encouragement, and love to myself as I do to others.

Bawdy - thanks for posting that. Good ideas!

My house was so hot yesterday evening. I went to the eye dr in my un-air conditioned car, and it was 94 degrees on the way home. (I had to get a prescription for bifocals, ugh, but I did get the kind without lines.) I fixed dinner after I got home, so then I was really hot. I finally went out to the patio in a nightie (neighbors can't see into our yard.) That was a lot cooler. After my dh got home and had dinner he hooked up the cooler, then took me to see a movie. It should be easier today with the cooler hooked up.

Where is everyone today? I've done all my "favorite" Saturday activites: go to the dump and the lumber yard, and mowed the front and back lawns (about 3 acres). Now I'm relaxing for a few minutes with a cold beverage (no . . . watered-down Kool-Aid sweetened with half-as-much-as-normal Splenda).

Hello there, just busy today. I haven't gotten the tequila yet, probably not until next week. Besides, it is cold and rainy here and not in the mood for them today.

Hi Dawn and Song(sounds like a law firm :D ).

Dawn, were you the one that says she goes to a chiropracter? Was wondering if it would help my back while I rehab my abs. Sitting at work makes my hips hurt. I took a Celebrex today and it has helped a little.I have the name of a good one locally if you think it would help.

Bawdy, if you go to work so early in the AM, do you eat anything at home or wait until you get to work? I still feel like I am eating two breakfasts and I don't need that much food! I have something around 5 AM (eggs, bacon or almond or flaxseed pancakes)when I get up and then I am hungry enough to have something at 8:30 when I get to work. What's up with that? I've been taking an Atkins bagel with the "Neufchatel" Philly cream cheese with me and then I'm hungry by 11. This is not a good way to low carb. Some of it's stress eating and that's why I took the Dr Phil book out of the library to see if there are some ideas there.

Rented "Calendar Girls" for this evening since it's so crummy here. Anyone seen it? I love Helen Mirren.

Elaine, I usually leave for work between 5:30 and 6:00 in the morning. I'll have either a protein shake or a slice of LC bread with butter and peanut butter. It usually holds me (lately, at least) until lunch. Then I'll have a protein serving, which holds me until "dinner." Dinner has been hit-or-miss lately. Sometimes I'll have next to nothing, and other times I'll have some more protein. I know, I know. But you asked.

My appetite simply hasn't been what it used to be. Take today, for example. I had 2 slices of LC bread this morning with butter and SF peanut butter around 8:00. I had maybe 2/3 cup of broccoli/cauliflower/mayo salad around 2:00, a couple glasses of very watered down Kool Aid in the afternoon, a light beer (stop by to see an elderly neighbor), and then came home and just had an Irish whiskey and about 1/3 cup of walnuts.

Don't try this at home, folks.

And please, don't lecture me. I'll get back into the swing of eating good food soon. I promise.

Hello Bawdy, Elaine, Song and Dance,

Worked out this morning, did a few errands. It is so hot here, I think it's 105*. Trying to keep my spirits up, can't wait to get my customized vitamins in the mail. Had a tiff with a girl who has a chip on her shoulders. I was trying to be nice, literally, I had to "bite my tongue". I'm going to do Pilates this evening, and stay focus on something positive.

Hey Elaine, I've never tried flaxseed pancakes. Do you have the recipe? I like to try it out, I've been craving for pancakes for seven months.

"See" you ladies tomorrow.

Bawdy, thanks for the menu ideas. (even the liquid ones :D ) I seem to get hungry every 3-4 hours.I've never had that 'I-don't-eat-until-lunch' feeling in my life except after my surgery when my stomach was upset. Since hysterectomies are not considered an ongoing WOE, I have to figure this out
Don't worry about your food right now, the important thing is you are eating.

Hi Cindy, this is the recipe I use for flaxseed pancakes(I'd give credit but don't remember what site I got it from):
1/4 cup flaxseed meal
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 T oil
1 large egg
1T cream
1T sour cream
1T water if needed

Mix all the dry ingredients, mix the liquid ingredients. Add the dry to the liquid and let the batter sit for 10 minutes. Then cook over low-med heat, about 4 min a side. I use cooking spray on a nonstick griddle.I serve it with sf maple syrup.

I also make almond pancakes(this recipe has been on a couple of websites):
5T almond meal
1/2 Tsp baking powder
1T sour cream
Splash Davinci vanilla or French Vanilla SF syrup
1T water
pinch of Splenda
2 T oil (I only use 1 but the original recipe called for 2) or butter, softened
1 egg

Mix together, cook on low-med until you see bubbles, flip and finish cooking. I use the sf syrup on these too, or you could try some berries cooked with splenda.

Sounds like I'm having pancakes for breakfast tomorrow :)

Hello Bawdy, Elaine, Song and Dance,

Cindy Q

Haa.. made me chuckle at the end of a busy day..Today was a busy day at my office, I had 4 clients, all of them one hour sessions, one 90 minute session. One client is very dependent and is very 'draining'.. still love her tho... :) Just can make the day a little more 'taxing' if I dont really ground myself before she comes in.

Chiro- I have gone a few times to the chiro, I firmly believe that chiro and massage really need to go hand in hand ( pun intended and yes, I am partial to massage..LOL.. wonder why? )

Elaine, have you ever had a massage? I think it would be beneficial for you esp. after your surgery, it can help keep the scar tissue from forming and it plain feels good.. Find a neuromuscular massage therapist.. (like myself)

Well, I might as well have just shot myself in the foot, hubby was dying for chinese, so we went to our old buffet, the one that is supposed to not have MSG.. and I tried very carefully to really monitor what I ate.. came home with a belly ache tho.. not a good sign. Maybe too much fiber.. sorry for the visual gang.

I had to run over to the school, after my last appt, which is 17 miles from me, then over to my other massage therapist friend in Marietta Ga..which is about another 20 miles from the school.. so.. had to stop to a store over there, that has really neat deals.. and browsed there for an hour, then got in a detour cause of a fire, by the time we got back over in our neck of the woods, it was 830pm.. so.. ate late on top of eating chinese..BLAH.. hopefully I will feel like going for a walk in the evening tomorrow when I get home from class.

Have a good one y'all :)

Love and Laughter,
Dawn
