Hi All, love the site and everything is offering but :) my brother and I are a bit stuck and need some help with making progress. We started the Atkins induction 19 day ago .We have stuck to it very rigidly except for few aspects which we are wondering if they have alone contributed to the lack of weight loss.
So far neither myself or my brother have lost any weight  , as we are both still 110 kg as we where 19 days ago. We have used ketosis sticks twice a day and have remained in a small to moderate range for each day after the first 2 days. We have run every second day for 20 min and have started light weights as well. We also sometime have skipped lunch as we not been hungry at all. Also on two occasion we have drunk vodka water a whilst attending a party. Other than these deviation we have not gone over the 20 grams out lined and have stayed in ketosis but have lost no weight!! :(
Please an ideas or insights would be great!!
Warm regards
Ewan

Why dont you post a few sample menus so we can get an idea of what you are eating. Also, are you measuring yourselves?
Try creating an account at www.fitday.com it may help you track your food better and see how many carbs you are really eating.

We have used ketosis sticks twice a day and have remained in a small to moderate range for each day after the first 2 days. The stix can measure dietary fat burned as well as fat taken out of storage. There really is no point to measuring more than once a day (and it's cheaper) because degree of ketosis varies through the day. More ketones exit via the breath and the intestines than the urine.
We have run every second day for 20 min and have started light weights as well. So you could easily be trading fluffy fat for lean sleek muscle already. This is why the scales are NOT your best measurement of how you are doing. Instead, get a tape measure and write down the measure of every body part you can reach. Or use the "Pant-o-meter" by comparing how a tight piece of clothing fits from week to week. That's far more accurate than the scales.
We also sometime have skipped lunch as we not been hungry at all. Not a great idea. Missing meals, even if not hungry, sends mixed signals to your body about the fuel supply and whether it is in danger of starvation. To reassure your body and keep the metabolism fired up, eat small meals but more often. Its' hard to remember to eat when you aren't hungry, but plan a snack of protein and fat in case you forget. Eat when you notice that you have missed lunch. Some days you may find yourself incredibly hungry. This is often the day before you drop some pounds so go ahead and eat enough to manage the hunger BUT choose from the LC foods.
Also on two occasions we have drunk vodka water a whilst attending a party. The body will use the alcohol for fuel right away. So no fat will be burned until the alcohol is used up. The alcohol is also broken down to the intoxicating components FAR faster than in non-LCers. So watch the intake which will hit you sooner and harder than you expect. And that can lead to bad food choices.
Other than these deviation we have not gone over the 20 grams out lined and have stayed in ketosis but have lost no weight!! [B]Agree with the suggestion above. Are you 20 grams coming from salads and veggies on the Induction list and in the amounts there? That's very important. Cheese carbs are sometimes a problem & should be limited to 2 ounces of hard cheese daily. Post a menu or two and someone will be along to look at it.
Good for you for going on this program together. I think you will soon see a change on the scale if you keep to the plan, but use the tape measure for now. All the best.

Are you using sugar substitutes ? If you are try taking them out of your diet. They can keep some people from losing. Also check on your coffee intake. Don't skip meals ! If your not hungry eat a small peice of cheese .

hi all, Thanks for the feedback, it helps to get a good point in the right direction. As advised we have tried the measuring rather than scales and we seemed to have lost an inch of the waist :) , so we will keep it up and let you know if we disocover anything more- Warm Regards Ewan
