To confirm, my numbers on "calories burned" are taken from the
electronic displays of these new-fangled machines, elliptical
cardio machines. It stated that I burned right around 900
calories over a 75 minutes workout -- this corresponds to the
ongoing cal/hour reading, which read between 700 and 800 at
all times. I average about 750 cal/hour, based on my three
uses of the machines so far (different machine of the same
make/model each time).
Any reason to believe the numbers are inaccurate?

Maybe you're not entering your weight correctly? Those figures
sound just a tad high. But maybe you're going at a high speed
& incline or whatnot, I don't know. It's probably within the
order of magnitude of the trut however.

Yes, energy expenditure tables show somewhat lower values,
unless, like I said, you are training at a higher intensity
than average. You might want to look at an exercise physiology
text. They usually have a table showing eenergy expenditures
for a multitude of physical activities.
