Does anyone take this stuff? I am reading about Relora and it sounds like something I need. Besides the weight loss benefits, I am interested in its antidepressant and stress-reducing properties. If you take it, where did you buy it? I am sorta strapped for cash.

I take Relora. I order it through my naturopath and it costs around $20 for a one-month supply (60 capsules). It has worked very well for me, as I had way too much cortisol (stress hormone) upon testing. The kind I have is from Douglas Laboratories. I get it through the naturopath because I don't necessarily trust some of the supplements that are available over the counter.

I'm not sure but I believe the Relacore is far more expensive. I personally would not take it because I don't trust just any supplement for me, and rely on the naturopath I see to pick the brands/kinds she trusts.

Here's some more information:

http://www.douglaslabs.com

It contains (per 2 capsules) 10 mg thiamine, 10 mg riboflavin, 10 mg niacinamide, 10 mg vitamin B6, 200 mcg of folic acid, 100 mcg of vitamin B12, and 500 mg of Relora (which is a propriety blend of patent-pending plant extracts from Magnolia officinalis (bark) and Phellodendron amurense (bark).
This product contains no yeast, wheat gluten, soy protein, milk/dairy, sodium, sugar, artificial coloring, preservatives, or flavoring.

Karenemt, your product sounds good. I bought some today at a local suppliment chain store and paid $22.95 (on sale) for 120 caps, which is actually a 40 day supply at 3 per day.

The Relacore at the same store was $49 for 30 day supply.

what can relacore do that relora can't that warrents the $20 extra in price?

I seriously think that Relora is just as effective and at a much smaller price. If you look at the Relacore website, they also state you can take up to 3 capsules daily, so it probably won't last as long and at a higher price.

If Relora alone doesn't work (I had my cortisol levels checked and they were still too high after a few months on it), then you can also add Seriphos or phosphylated serine/phosphotidylserine as well. The combination of these 2 in conjunction with the Atkins has helped me lose 4 inches from my middle and I also notice less "back fat" if you know what I mean.

I'm going to have my cortisol rechecked again in a few months. If the level is way down (and I believe it is by how I feel), that is proof enough to me that the supplements are doing their job.

In conjunction with the Relora, I've also given up caffeine - it's very bad for your adrenals and stress levels.

Sorry so long, hope this helps.

Karenemt, am curious, what kind of blood test did you do to see that your cortisol was high?

No it wasn't a blood test - it was a saliva test. I had a take-home kit to use and collected samples at various times throughout 24 hours. It had to be done on a certain day of the menstrual cycle. Then UPS picked up the test and voila - that was all. My naturopath got the results and then started me on the supplements.

I went this route because I had seen a couple of docs over the past two years who said nothing was amiss, yet I was dieting (lo-fat) and exercising all the time and actually gaining!

Between the Atkins and the Relora/Seriphos, I feel better than I have in years and the weight is slowly coming off.

Thanks Karenemt....I can definitely swing $20 per month! I would love to have that test done, but I was flipping channels last night and ran across an infomercial for Cortislim (a supplement I believe is either the same or similar to Relacore and Relora), and the doc on the show was talking about the symptoms of having too much cortisol. I didn't watch the whole thing, but it sounds like what I need. I think after I balance my checkbook today I will see if I can find it somewhere. GNC would be the best place, right?

blue4lemon - pretty sure there was a thread on here the other day saying how cortislim is just snake oil.

Personally I'm gonna go for some relacore sometime in the next couple of weeks or so.... unfortunately I have to buy it off the net since noone sells it in the UK :( (well, I found one company who had obviously imported it, but it works out at $62 a bottle of 90 so it's waaaaaay cheaper to import it myself!)

I take Relacore now, but before I did I bought the Relora. I only took the Relora 1 day, because I found Relacore & changed over right away. Everyone was having such good results with the Relacore & I didn't want to miss out.
The cost of the Relora was $29.99 for 90 capsules (Doctor's A-Z brand), the Relacore $49.99 for 90 capsules. Both at GNC.
