What do people think about the new colour scheme?
I lovvvvvve some of the changes. Like the yellow and the beige with a hint of pink ... makes me feel good.
I did like the dark red/maroon which this morning turned to green. I do like the green but I think I liked the red/maroon better.
The orange ... I am not too keen on ... but perhaps it will grow on me.
I miss the colours on the smilies/icons but at the same time you can see the expressions much clearer now.
Overall much better.
Take care.

I love the little envelopes (unread posts) and the closed envelopes for posts already read. They are sooooooo cute!!!
I'm also hoping the orange will grow on me.
Looks great Wa'il!!

I like the new message icons too ... the full envelope. And yes, what happened to the coloured smiley's?? They look so pale and washed out :( ... the sad face really does need to be blue.
The colour scheme here on the forum helps to unify with the rest of the Active Lowcarber website. I think it's great that there's such visual consistency from page to page. Although, it's going to take me a while to NOT have to correct myself from typing " ... please click on the red menu bar at the top of the page .. " ;)
It took me a while to take a shining to the orange also ... but I've chosen to think of it as GOLD instead. A nice sense of warm, sunny and inviting.

Glad you guys like it! :)
All the previous graphics, the coloured icons, and the dark red icons are still save in my backup and can be restored if the majority of you want them back.
Maybe wait a few days and see if they grow on you?
I initially was reluctant to replace the red logos for "Reply and new thread" with the dark green over orange. It's starting to appeal to me. Maybe a lighter shade of green over a lighter shade of orange?

No this last lighter shade of green is yuk. I liked the red best. The dark green was okay but the light green a definite no ... for me at least.
Lighter shade of orange might work better. I could think of it as gold as Doreen suggests.
We do keep you busy don't we Wa'il. Thank you for all your efforts to make us all happy.
Take care.

try:

or
#ffcc66
???
I kinda like the intense gold as it is ... too pastel-y might be washed-out looking ... ???

Hey Wa'il......isn't it a woman's rule that she can change her mind.....or are we being hard to satisfy???
Not to worry about me....I'm sure the orange will grow on me.... (I like Doreen's version of it being gold). I always say you can never go wrong with gold and diamonds!!! I'm trying to remember but I was thinking that orange was a colour that restaurants don't use...(or maybe it's one they use)...but I remember orange having something to do with people's appetites!!! Maybe orange is just what we need!!
Bet Karen might know............hummm

i love the new color scheme! just wanted to "weigh in" (har har) with my opinion. the only thing that bothers me is the white type on the light orange in some of the page headers (like the "Post Reply" for example). I think a nice dark grey for the type would be sweet.
anyway, congratulations on this highly successful and excellent vboard. i'm really happy to have found it and to be a (small, mostly lurking) part of it.

Glad you're enjoying the forum. I know I used to visit other forums but hardly participated....but by being coming part of the group it's much for fun.
Welcome....Your input will be greatly appreciated. When you're comfortable why don't you post in the introduction section, so that everyone can welcome you.

I changed the font colour in the New Thread/Reply to dark gray.
Is this better? Hit F5 if you don't see it to refresh your browser.

Um I think the text that Jennifer was referring to be changed is the text which you just changed to teal-green (which I love by the way, works well) ... in the gold bars in the threads and forums .... might try it on the main forum page too .... ???
The pale gray in the new reply buttons is ok ... might not want to go any darker than that.

Yes, now I see if I re-read it.
I'll try the dark grey and see, and turn the button text to white again. (I'll save copies in order to revert if need be.

Isn't it funny .. the grey looks good in the gold bar ... I think it's that value thing ... gray is cool, the gold is warm ...
When we tried yesterday with the grey text in the teal-green category bars, it looked awful ... because they are both cool tones.
I like the grey, looks good, and unifies everything .. the reply and message boxes etc.

Oh Wa'il
I love these funny little things much better than the stars you gave us before. They don't give me that "competition" feeling which for me also has to do with "not good enough".
Yes definitely like them. What do I call them though?
Take care.

Oh, is that what they are? I thought they were weight loss markers and I'd lost the equivalent of one chicken leg. Scared me silly! ;)
Are the coloured smilies coming back?
The website looks awesome, Wa'il. I especially like the orange and teal combination for the bars.

The coloured smilies "might" come back. I think after a while, members will prefer the new ones. I can create a poll and see what everyone thinks.
I'm now thinking of a graphic representation of weight-loss/percentage as well.

Wa'il :
Sorry to be difficult but I find that whilst reading the posts on the light (white) background is very hard on the eyes and I prefer the light shades of grey you had earlier.
Just my 2 cents, Sarah :)

Wa'il don't you ever rest on your laurels?
Stars: I was just getting use to seeing them and then you changed to food, which is ok with me. But there is no way of relating them to the number of posts for individuals at a quick glance. Therefore the Stars were better indicators. By the way, the chicken legs look like "sausages on a stick" to me.
May I make a suggestion?
Why not move the list of members names on the bottom of the page to the top and it would save having to scroll all the way down if you want to know who is also lurking at the same time as yourself.
I find the colours are quite relaxing.
Keep up your splendid work, Wa'il.
Regards
Joe

I went away, came back and our nice warm, sunny site had turned dark and gloomy.
Like the end of summer and winter's come early. :(
Just my opinion though.

Hi Jo,
We have a little text at the top stating the number of users on line. The list at the bottom gives the user names of thos who chose to be "visible".
I like the idea of keeping it at the bottom, (in addition to PM's)since it encourages people to scroll down, and see what else is there beside the daily forum. :)

Doreen, I agree. The only way to have the grey work is go back to the old look. :)
I'll creat a seperate look for members who don't like the new look, this can be selected in the user options.

Another thing Sarah can try ... reduce the brightness and/or contrast settings on your monitor ... and the Color Temperature, if your monitor has that setting. This has reduced a lot of "glare" for me too, and reduced the "eye-strain" factor.

Hi Donna,
How's this:
<div style="width:100%; font-size:12pt; color:gray; filter:Glow(color=orange, strength=4)">User Name</div></font>
To get the percentage calculated, just update your profile.

Wa'il, I hate to be a wet blanket on all your excellent efforts, but I am finding all the posts very difficult and uncomfortable to read.
Did you say that we could put the colours back to the original scheme independently of what you are doing to these changes?
How do I go about doing this at my computer.
Regards
Joe
P.S. I find that all these colour combos are too distracting.
My signature of "jomil' is indiscernible on my computer. In fact I find that most of the names are unreadable. Maybe it is just my old computer.

A style with the old colours is now available through the profile panel. Under options at the bottom, select style "Old Look"

Colours affect different people in different ways. What is great for the majority might truly be quite depressing for others - it is not their fault ... just their particular personality. There are four basic types. ... Just making your job more interesting and challenging!!!!
I only learned about the effect of colour on me recently when I went to a colour seminar. It was absolutely fascinating. I put some of what I learned into practice and it has helped a lot in my daily life.
So take what ppl are saying seriously ... not that u don't already do that.
Take care.
You are an absolute genius.

I better be able to see got lots of "figures" to caluculate this morning...as unfortunately it's back to the Salt Mines!!! Oh well, taking tomorrow off, can't have too much work in one week that could shock the whole system!!!
Have a great day folks.

Wa'il: Sorry couldn't get back to you earlier. I don't mean just grey, just some shade of color is better than all white glaring.
The changes since the last time I visited is good. So I will keep my mouth shut now.
Thanks for all your efforts trying to accomodate everyone. :)
