Hello,
I was wondering if its ok to have Atkins shakes on induction? or if anyone has a controlled skake reciepe for induction? also ,I am a little confused as how you can have whip cream? doesn't it have sugar in it? Thanks in advance :)

The shakes are fine if you don't overdo them. The bars have sugar alcohols, which seem to cause trouble for some people, but the shakes don't have them for sweeteners.

Whipped heavy cream sweetened with Splenda is fine. It can be a pain to make your own, but much better than the sugary kind.

I was reading your statement about not wanting to overdo it on the shakes. What is the reason for this? I have replaced breakfast and lunch with shakes...is this bad??? I have only been doing this for a few days but had planned on continuing. Any advice you could give me would be a blessing.

There is no reason to limit yourself to a shake for two meals-it could be counterproductive-not enough "fuel" to run on all day so that you will be hungry and overeat-Keep whole natural foods as the basis of your diet.

The shakes are nutritious but are not full spectrum nutrition-keep some variety in your meals.

I agree that "real" food is better when you can. I only cautioned against getting carried away with them because they have been accused of fuelling cravings for some, and because they can leave you hungry sooner than real food. In my experience, this is often true.

They are a handy alternative to skipping a meal or snack, though, and I use them to keep me out of the sugar-alcohol-laden fake chocolates. I prefer teh Keto powder or the Atkins pre-mix(but they are kind of expensive) The LC Slimfast was good, but left me STARVING in an hour!

I guess my logic was a bit off-base there, thinking that I can substitute the shakes for meals and be better off. I was just reading the label on the can and assumed it might be better because of the added nutrients. I don't want to do anything that might be counterproductive. I'll try and incorporate more "real" food into my diet like you all suggest. Thanks again....I'm learning as I go.
