Morning everyone. That's great that there was so much activity and "sightings" on yesterday's thread. I am royally spent. Weight is good, 147.5, which is amazing with the stress I had yesterday. I finally reached my breaking point with my students, well, mostly just one of them, but in front of all 75. We were having a team meeting before we went to camp today, and first were talking about their behavior and how it's not quite been desirable lately. And so he raises his hand and says that it is b/c everything is so boring. Normally I don't let students get to me and I can blow things like that off, but not this time. Needless to say, I never got to any of the camp announcements or reminders. I spent the next 20 minutes red in the face and livid, and talking about how they need to realize that everything in life isn't going to be a party. Some of these kids are real brats sometimes. They come from the wealthiest families in Ohio and are used to getting whatever the heck they want. And I am sick of their whining and laziness. They have so much going for them and don't even realize it. So I laid it all in to them. I don't think they've ever seen me even close to that mad before.
The saving grace was that after school was over, I had 3 different groups of girls come up and say that they like my math class, think I am a good teacher, and thought he was way out of line for what he said. You'd think that 10 positives would override that negative, but it's still all that's on my mind right now. It should be an interesting day.....

{{{ Wendy }}} I've been in this group with you for a long time. You are a warm, loving and caring teacher - one who's comments have always shown concern for your students and the quality of education they receive. Don't let the comments of one spoiled brat undermine your confidence in your abilities.

Good morning :)
Wendy-You sound like a great teacher! It's kind of like when my children, who have so much, whine about how they are bored, etc. Most of the time I can just blow it off, joke with them, etc.., but once in a while the 17 year old will come up with a comment that just blows my top. He has been given so many opportunities in life and accomplishes so little. I see all the people who go thru so much adversity, accomplish so much, and see my children just float thru life. Granted, we are on a very limited budget, and they do have to earn spending money, etc. We do not provide everything to them, but they do have a home, family, caring parents, good schools, good health, etc. and they do nothing with their lives. DH says I have forgotten what it is like to be a teenager. But, I remember working a job after school, having to get decent grades, trying to fit in, and goofing off. Wow, this got to be long, sorry! Anyway, remember, summer is almost here. Hugs to you! :rheart:
Sweat pea-welcome, everyone here is very nice!
Unity-get to bed :) Do you get weekends off? Hope you have a great Friday!
Good morning to everyone else. Stress this week in my life is that I am so broke. Didnt get to work the hours I was planning this week, DH is still planning trip to UT in two weeks, kids need haircuts and at 15 and 17 wont let me cut their hair anymore, need to go to the groc store, and gas hit $2 per gallon here. So, I am going to keep smiling and everything will work out somehow. Rant over!!
Love to all,
Carrie

Sometimes kids just need that blast of reality.. they may 'scoff' at it, but inside they listen believe it or not! Especially when it comes from very caring teachers, that the students know are dedicated..not just there for the paycheck (achem..cough! Remember I have a teaching background, so I recall not so fondly my little checks..lol)
Gotta run..have a 90 minute client at 930.. then a cple more.. then a event that I am supervising 4 other massage therapists for a local Pamper event for solo moms/women in crisis..where we quarterly give them hair cuts, manicures, makeovers and massages... lots of fun! :)
MUAH!

{{{{Wendy}}}}} Sounds exactly like my DD's math class. I know I complain about my DD being a teen but the truth is I am very blessed. She would NEVER act out in class..consequences are severe and she knows it. It is not just social classes that create this kind of behavior, it is lack of parenting. I think you are wonderful person and teacher :)
Edited to say that we hit over $2.00 per gallon this week, and not just a little. It was $1.95 a week ago and now is $2.13 !!

Wendy:
So glad you have found something that is working for you both in terms of weight loss and the thyroid issues. With my metabolic problems, I function better with more carbs, but don’t lose as well.
Rob (Sasquatch or Yeti):
So good to see you here. Miss you wit, wisdom and wacky recipes.
Rose (SweetPea):
Welcome to the most supportive and knowledgeable group around (of course I could be wee bit biased ‘cuz I adore these people). We try to focus on finding what works for the individual instead of assuming the books are a “one size fits all’ formula for weight loss.
Unity:
How do you stay up so late and function the next day? Oh, to be young again…
Carrie (eightc):
Under 160!!!!!!! :yay:
Shivering about your temps.
Shelly (Lissette)
Sorry to hear you grandpa passed on {{{ Shelly }}}
Whoa – the carpet replacement sounds like a real job. Hope the branding went well.
Are you still running or have the snakes driven you to the treadmill?
Is the calving season over yet? I got to see a horse born yesterday. I was driving by this farm and noticed a horse in the field acting very odd so I went up to the house to let the owner know. I walked out with the woman and we arrived just as the colt did. Guess the Yeti will have to share his birthday :D
Michele (acipensar)
Your numbers are looking great (along with your menus). Know you are very busy at work these days – are the fish spawning?
Songberrie:
Great to hear you are walking. It is getting hot here also – having to walk late in the evening.
Ellie:
Please adopt me – your menus look soooo good. Glad to hear the hormone issues are better.

I’m doing fairly well – Thanks for asking. My toe is still a mess and they discovered two hairline fractures in my foot as well. It is healing, but it is going to take some time. I am allowed to walk on pavement or concrete. The docs are worried that an uneven surface might interfere with the healing. Guess you can imagine how happy I am about not being able to hike….
Also, my granddaughter’s pregnancy is not going well – they are very seriously considering taking the baby early and likely via C-section – she is on bed rest, being assessed every other day now and they have given her a homebound teacher. Prayers / good thoughts would be appreciated.
Bawdy:
Glad you’ve lost the weight – wish it were under different circumstances. You are always in my prayers and I believe things will work out
Sounds like you are going to be going shopping soon. Any chance the jacket on the suit could be altered since the skirt fits and you love it?
Green scum on top of chicken – I think it was the green protein powder haunting you? ::: running for cover :::
Dawn:
Are you still eating the increased carbs? How is it going? Sorry to hear you’ve been so tired lately. Glad the decals are working.
Batty:
How was the company picnic?
shrubie :
A five pound gain that fast has to be water – get the carbs back down and it will leave within days. Drinking lots of water helps also – crazy to drink water to lose water, but it works.
Did you get to walk? What are you doing to your yard?
Elaine (ewinpa):
What are you doing these days? I know you were getting ready to go back to work and resume exercising after your surgery – how is it going? Are you still doing PP with higher carbs to deal with the thyroid issues or are you using something else.
To all the older member who were at the darkside:
I haven’t said anything here, but there have been some serious changes on the darkside during the past month. A fairly large number of people from the playground area have received the same or similar treatment to what happened to me there late last year and many others have left in disgust. The traffic has dropped dramatically and new BBs have sprung up to replace it. If you want to ask questions, I’d recommend using the new BBs as most of the well-read and intelligent people have moved on. PM me or email me for details.
BTW - gas is $1.72 here - up from $1.67 last week.

Hi all.
I have been bouncing weightwise all over the place post surgery. I just had my estradiol Rx bumped up because the night sweats returned post surgery and I am already on an HRT patch. My back has been bothering me so haven't done a lot of exercise. I am bloaty from the humidity today . I go back to work on Monday. Wish I weighed what I did after surgery and two weeks of nothing but liquids. Trying to drink a lot of water and eat more protein but need to keep the carbs up for energy.
But at least I like my dark blonde highlights :D
Orang, the Las Vegas Odds tables are now open to bet on which of your remaining bones and organs you will screw up next :D :D :D :D . Hope the toe thing is better soon. Toes are so little but they are so big a deal to heal.

Wendy, if I had kids I'd move to Ohio so you could be their teacher. ;)

Well, I went out and had a nice long walk this morning at 9am, before it started getting hot. I took Sloan (6) and my dog Gigi. They were both tired before me!
Wendy - sorry to hear your class is giving you a hard time. Spring fever? Good thing the school year is almost over, hang in there.
I signed the kids up for two sessions of swimming lessons yesterday, the first session is in June and the second in August. I found a lady that does lessons with only 4 kids in a class, that should be a lot better than the classes they've been in with 15 kids in a class. I also signed them up for Awesome Adventures at one of the parks. It runs for 5 weeks and they go from 8am to 4pm one day a week. Wow, that will give them something fun to do. I will also sign us up for the summer movies. Our local theatre has last seasons kids movies, one a week for the whole summer for $6 each. I love to take the kids, 2 hours in a nice air conditioned theatre works great for me. If my 16 yr old passes all of his classes this trimester I told him he could start taking guitar lessons. That will keep me being a taxi for the summer!
Unity - I just read something about lack of sleep making it hard for your body to loose weight. It was in one of the latest woman's magazines, I can't remember which one though. Maybe you could get a nice nap in?
I hope everyone has a great day!
:)

Well, I had to download another browser. I can't get IE6 to work right so now I"m on Mozilla and I really like it.
I did well yesterday. I dropped 7 lbs overnight! :o I know it's all water but I was happy to see the numbers drop and I also don't feel so bloated today. TOM is late (as usual, since I have PCOS & peri symptoms).
My DH cleaned up his mess in the spare utility room so now there's room to unfold my treadmill. I will get on it tonight after the kids go to bed. I don't know how long I will last since I really haven't done any formal exercise since my last surgery in Sept. :o
Anyway, I have my Fitday in my siggy now. I have never been one to log my food and I think that's part of my problem. I also love the journals they have here, tres cool! :)
Renee is right, the "other" place has really gone downhill since the new owners took over. It's a shame, really. It's nice that there's a new board where I can still talk with my friends I've made over the past few years.
So far my menu today has been:
B: 2 eggs & 2 slices bacon
L: 2 plain fried chicken legs
Snack: 1/2 c. whipped cream
Dinner: I'm not sure what it's going to be, perhaps a marinated/grilled London Broil and asparagus.

Shelly - So sorry about your grandpa :( Somehow I missed it and didn't know why everyone else was commenting on it. Send good thoughts your way :)
Elaine - So....where is the picture of your highlights? I know I am one to talk as I still have not posted a pic of my new hairdo. It is funny that I have had blond highlights in my hair for months but nobody noticed until I cut it short. She had a lot of blonde in it but this last time she put some red in with the blonde. I guess it may take awhile to get the right dosage of HRT down. Hope you get to feeling better soon :)
Sweet Pea - 7 pounds is 7 pounds...WTG!!!!
Song - Had to laugh a bit at your comment about walking before it gets hot :D Hot is very relative to where you live....85 here is coat weather :D In the middle of summer here it is often 115 at midnight

Well, I for one, am extremely jealous of all of you with good weather.
We are looking at 5 days of rain, thunderstorms, wind. Highs of 50 degrees.
So much for a good weekend for mothers day. Looks like we will be inside watching videos.
DH is leaving on a business trip Monday morn to Vegas. Boy did I want to go. Supposed to be 87 there. But no, we have to go to Utah instead.
Sorry Song but all that means is that my mother is closer to tell me how much I am doing wrong. BTW, I would love to get together for a diet coke. I will let you know closer to when we leave what our schedule looks like.
I didnt want to make dinner tonight, but did. Again. When I told DH that I was not in the mood to cook, he said why? Men do not get it! I told him that I would like for it to be his idea to go out to eat once in a while.
But dinner was good. Took celery, 1/2 green pepper, and a zucchini, stir fried in olive oil and butter with garlic and seasoning salt, added leftover chicken. Voila!!
Breakfast - 3 egg omelet, 1/2 natures oven golden bagel.
Snack- dannon lc yogurt
Lunch- salad, leftover chicken thigh
Tonight will have a piece of lc cheesecake for snack.
As always-too much coffee, but tastes so good. :)
Hope you all have a great evening!
Love, Carrie

Unity, thank your DH for me for the compliment. I need all that I can get right now. As a matter of fact, I've been wearing skirts and high heels (no slacks) to work since going back. I really do have nice legs, if I do say so myself, and I usually get a lot of nice attention when I wear skirts. Of course, in my division of 35 people, I'm the only one who dresses in what I consider to be a professional manner. All the other women wear VERY casual slacks and tops, or ankle-length skirts paired with Birkenstocks and heavy socks.
I have this need right now to feel attractive to the opposite sex. Like . . . do I still have it? Whatever confidence I've mustered in the past several years just took a real nosedive.
Does any of this make sense?

You guys are all so wonderful! Thank you for the kind words and support. Today was actually a really good day. The kids were EXTRA good in social studies and then we went to camp for much of the day, where they do a high ropes course. It was freezing and we had to leave early b/c it started to downpour. So we got to eat lunch back at school at 1:30 in our classroom before sending them off to class. They came back at the end of the day and we spent 40 minutes just sharing our experiences. Everything just felt so much better today. Even the "horror child" participated and seemed to be a little less bored than usual, what a concept. It was a nice way to end the week b/c I won't be back until Tuesday at lunch. I've got a nice, strategically planned personal days for Monday all day and Tuesday morning, and it is definitely needed! Tomorrow I am going to drive to Cincinnati and go to King's Island which is an amusement park. My sister is going to go with me and I am meeting up with one of my best friends who lives in Cinci and her friend. Also, my boyfriend will be there, leading our middle school band in a performance, so hopefully we will also get to spend some time with him and he can meet my friend. I'm dead tired from the week, but it should be a fun day. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!!

i can relate to the gas problems. it is 200 a gal here too.
i had a very busy day. we picked up our "new to us" travel trailer today. i really want to take it somewhere tomorrow just for the night, but am getting trouble from the other half. it is not ready yet, ect, ect. i keep saying all we need is some bedding and games and we will have a fun night.....we will see what happens.
then we went to see the movie "van helsing". it was pretty good if you are into that kind of movie. then we went out to eat at the keg, it is a steakhouse. they had a special that was a 9oz serloin on top of melted cheddar sauce and toped with dungeness crab and more cheese. it was really really good. said no to the bread and picked the crutons off my salad.
well, need to get going. will check tomorrow maybe. or hopefully we will be camping tomorrow and i won't get back to you guys till mon (my day off)
have a good one!!

hey Bawdy practice your flirting, it has been a long time since your body language has told someone "hey flirt with me" .practice it and you just wait to see how many will take you up on it. Keep it light, keep it fun and remember just because you flirt with a guy doesn't mean you have to make anything of it but it will lift you spirits to see how many will flirt with you.
