WARNING TO ALL: yoplait now makes a yogurt that is advertised, "for your low carb diet." it says right on the front 1/3 less carbs/sugar. great, another product for us to try! wonderful, right?

wrong. i have two problems with it.

one, it is not yogurt. yogurt contains live active cultures. if you want to market a product as yogurt, it MUST contain these cultures. otherwise it's some sort of milk, cream, thing...tasty, sure. but not yogurt.

two, FRUCTOSE is listed as one of the top ingredients!! if you've been low carbing for even a short period of time, you must know that fructose is a SIMPLE SUGAR, creating cravings in those of us who are trying to keep away carb cravings! fructose has a very high gi, causing an immediate rise in blood sugar causing loss of ketosis.

yeah...wonderful.

i am sick of these companies trying to jump on the low-carb bandwagon. look at total and their "low carb" cereal with table AND brown sugar. something needs to be done to make people aware that these products and others containing simple carbs will wreak havoc on a low carb diet. i have been low carbing for 3 years and i even bought this product without checking the ingredients. won't be making that mistake again.

I think you answered yourself there. It's never a good idea to buy a product without reading the label. :D

Yes, they think they can fool us by saying "lower carb" and not meaning LOW carb at all. They'll only fool us once, especially if we keep warning each other.

For some reason I thought it had only 3 carbs. WRONG!! It had 9. I was so angry. I was used to eating the Hood ones and was thrilled to see Yoplait because it was cheaper. :nono:

I too noticed after buying it that the Yoplait has more carbs per oz than both the Dannon and the Blue Bunny, and tastes a LOT sweeter. Probably the fructose. I also noticed that the next day after eating it I was craving sweets, could be coincidence from TOM, but I definitely don't want to screw up from eating Yoplait when I could eat the Dannon or BB and not have that problem...

Just wondering. . . do they actually call it yogurt on the packaging? I have seen it on the shelf in the yogurt section, but I never bought it, or paid that close attention to the label. I'm just wondering if they're truly being deceitful, or just using a loophole in the law by not actually calling it yogurt.

I guess this a different product then Yoplait Ultra, then? The Ultra states on the packaging that it contains live and active cultures, and claims 70% less carbs then the regular. 8g/serv as opposed to 33g/serv (which actually works out closer to 75% less) for the Blueberry flavor which I did the comparison with.
