It's been nearly impossible for me to lose weight. I've worked with 2 doctors, a nutritionist and a personal trainer. No one can figure out why my body doesn't respond. I've been tested for Hypothryroid twice. Both times my TSH has come back at 3.0. I read some posts that lead me to believe that 3.0 may be on the high side. Please give me some insight.
Thanks!

You can NEVER soley go by what test results say... all of my various test results, including 2 biopsies came back "normal" but as it turned out I had 2 types of cancer in my thyroid. Your body will adapt to what is being or not being produced to show a false normal reading. If you've tried everything maybe your doctor could put you on a low dose of thyroid medication to see if it makes a difference. It can't hurt you, and if you don't respond to it at least you can take that one off your things to try list!! Good luck!!

Dear Nadine,
I was in your shoes about 5 years ago...borderline hypothyroid. My weight kept increasing, I had no energy, I was constipated, and my cholesterol levels went up. Fortunately, I go to a doctor who really "listens" and he looked at my blood tests and concluded that my levels were on the high side of normal and said "we will try you on thyroid medication" and see if you feel better. Everything got better for me, except the battle with weight gain. My energy returned and my cholesterol levels lowered slightly. I felt SO much better on thyroid medicine. I had begun to thnk that I had chronic fatigue syndrome. You have come to the right place because I have found a wealth of information on this website.
PUSH to get your doctor to let you try thyroid meds, like Jo said, it can't hurt a thing. Let us know how it goes!
