Coors Brewing Co. will make its low-carb beer available to consumers nationwide by May 3. The low-carb light lager, called Aspen Edge, will be sold in Kroger, Wal-Mart, 7-11, Albertson's, Circle K, Safeway and other stores, the company announced Monday.
Aspen Edge is Coors' first entry into the low-carb beer category, and was rolled out last month in select markets. In the first three weeks of availability, Aspen Edge became the No. 2 low-carb beer in supermarkets, garnering a .4% market share of overall beer sales in those markets, according to Coors.
Aspen Edge has 2.6 grams of carbs and 94 calories. The beer is available in 6-pack and 12-pack bottles.
Founded in 1873, Coors is the third-largest U.S. brewer and the ninth-largest brewer in the world. The company sells its products in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
