I have been reading the newer PPLP book and noticed that the list of recommended nutrients in the back of the book included L-Carnitine specifically for weight loss.
Has anyone on PP added this to their diet? If so, how much? How effective is/was it? It isn't terribly expensive, but I am not too happy about taking handfulls of supplements with every meal, so I don't want to add it if it isn't really helpful

I am on Atkins, but I take it. It has really helped me. I was on a looong stall. I was still losing inches, but after weeks of not seeing that scale move, can get you down. I only take one a day. Not at every meal. There is a thread here called: 18 month stall ended with L-carnitine. There have been many people who have responded to it. Maybe reading it would help answer some of your questions. It was started by Matty.

Anyone taking thyroid hormones should not supplement with L-Carnitine. It stops the thyroid meds from working at a cellular level.

I'm not so sure. We used to get ours in the States.
