I am going into my fourth week on the Atkins diet, have lost 8 pounds and some inches here and there. This is all good, but I find I don't have the energy that everyone has talked about. It's not like I can't do my daily functioning. It's just that I seem to have lost all my energy to do anything other than what I have to do. :( I have been taking vitamins that include potassium. If lack of potassium is the problem, just how much should I be taking? Or is there a magic pounds lost or time spent on the diet that causes the energy to kick in? Here it is spring...time to garden and be outdoors and I would really rather take a nap. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

For some it takes a bit longer for the "energy" to kick in. Are you eating Vegatables? Getting your carbs to around 20?

I get in 30 minutes a day of either weight lifting or treadmill. I have tried to stay right at 20g on carbs including salads every day. I guess I am only whining because I used to be an energy powerhouse and now I putz along. I also used to drink 3 cups of coffee a day along with one diet coke. Could the break from caffiene cause such a problem?

If you are eating 3 meals a day try to eat 5 or 6 smaller meals. Spreading out your meals may help with your energy valleys.

I have the same problem. I'm re-doing Atkins for the 3rd time and it's my 3rd week of induction. I exercise every day for at least 1 hour so being exhausted has been a daily occurence for me. What has worked for me is taking all the appropriate vitamins and minerals Atkins suggest as well as adding L-carnitine and L-glutamine on weight lifting days and extra dose of potassium every day. If all fails, diet coke or a nap. Try adding one vitamin/supplement at a time to see what works.

I am having the same problem here lately. I have been on this plan for about 2 months now and suddenly this past week I just felt like I was going to fall over everyday. I am always tired and I just don't feel very good. So I started taking a multi vitamin two days ago and so far I think it has helped a little bit but will see I am sure it will take more than a couple of days to really kick in and for me to see a real difference in the way I feel.

If you are getting lots of rest and some from of exercise several times a week be sure you are getting fat in your diet also. Remember that is now the fuel your body is burning so don't try to cut out the cabs and go real low on fat. I was having the problem and then i ate a Wendy's burger (no bun) perked me right up i felt great.
