I'm glad I stumbled into this subforum. I started Southbeach at the end of 2003, and had fantastic results. But after the holidays, I "fell off the wagon" and have been struggling since to get back on. Today is my latest "day 1."

I was glad to read the forum's remarks about animal fats and saturated fat. While I say I'm on Southbeach, actually, from the beginning I instinctively modified the WOE because I wasn't enthusiastic about all the low-fat stuff. Low fat cheese is terrible (in my opinion), and I don't like consuming skim-milk because it's too high in carbs. I knew Atkins worked great, but I had trouble limiting my veggies, and liked having bean-foods occasionally. The low-glycemic standard seemed easier for my tastes. So I guess I took the more extreme-low-carb of Atkins, and mixed it with the "more veggies" part of Southbeach. And it worked great for me. That's what I'm planning to do again.

However, I'm definitely trying to do a strict induction period right now, so it's really looking more like Atkins.
