My DH and I have been on Atkins for 11 wks now. And we have decided that SBD is a easier program to live with long term. More veggies and fruit even breads that you don't pay $5 or more a loaf for. SBD seems you can just go to a regular supermarket and get what you need. With Atkins we were in health food stores looking for things..that we had alot of problems finding. Anyway we are going to change. My question is::: Must we do Phase 1..because of course we did Atkins Stage 1. Or can we start at Phase 2..or does it matter?

Thanks for any help you folks out there can give us.

On Atkins- after 11 wks.
Hubbie- lost 26 Lbs
Me- lost 20 Lbs.

The reason for phase I is to get your insulin in balance and cravings under control. Does the Atkins plan do that?

Yeah atkins does that. The first phases are pretty similar. I would say start right at phase 2 of south beach if you have been in Atkins induction. Just make sure you take it really slow as you add back in new foods. http://www.mizfrogspad.com/south_beach_diet.htm here is a good link to help you out in getting started. :) Best of luck in the switch over!

I too. have been doing atkins. But i have also had no problem of finding things to eat on it. I also have sb book but find it hard to understand.Atkins sounds easier .
But april 1st. i did start my own diet to get wt. moving again. For i have been losing slow and was at at Stall. Feb15- till Now. but we will see if i broke. it myself. How did u like being on atkins. and what did you loose? i wish sb had a chat room or even a free no. to call like atkins does. have u put on wt. since going to sb. from atkins.? U know atkins and sb Doc. used to work close together and were friends.. i like to find a low fat or no fat dressing. low in sugar and calaries. any tips??

Walden Farms has sugar free and calorie free dressings. They aren't that great at all though. Since olive oil is allowed on SB you can use it as a dressing. There are also recipes online for SB dressings too. Check the frog site. Also http://home.comcast.net/~flagirl1217/Recipes.doc

Hey Janetkind...My Dh and I are still on Atkins. I've lost 20 lbs in 3 months. Which of course you know everyone wants it to be faster..but it's going down..not up. So that keeps us going. The main reason I want to make the switch to SB is because you don't have to worry about the veggies. And you can have a piece of fruit once in a while. And bean soup, or chilli without ruining everything. However I believe you must be careful or you could over do. Atkins works...and I hope SB does too...because I think its something I can live with LONG term.

We are planning to make the switch when we eat all the regular fat cheese, bacon and other SB "no nos" that I still have in the kitchen. The way I figuare that should be within a week. So wish us well.

And truely if you are comfortable and happy with Atkins by all means stay there..it does work. Weight wise. In a month and 1/2 I go back to my Doctor to have blood work done again...Then I'll know about the cholesteral(SP) and all those things....Mine was a little high-248- so hopefully Atkins was right and the last 3 months helped. We will see.

Hi Lynn
Thanks for writting.I got out my sb yesterday. But so hard to know what is what.
I have been doing Atkins since Feb o3/ and fall off for 2 months. > Gained12lbs. Got back Jan. o4. But losing so slow. but did take 5 lbs of that 12. But Since Feb 15-04 i stalled. at 135lbs. So April1st. I started own diet and lost as of today 3lbs. So 2lbs morewill take off that bad 12lbs.
My goal is to weigh 105-100lbs by Sept.
Right now Iam counting calaries and watching bad carbs. So now iam keeping no higher then 25-30 carbs. and on week ends staying 20 or under.
Will do my own i think. Until June 1st. to see.
I do feel good with Atkins but been so slow.
I have to get into Exericing and Stay with it.and water too.
Will hope and and hubby do will with low carbing.and S/b works will for u. Iam also going little low fat too. just have to watch that sugar in stuff. sometimes reg. stuff is better thenLow fat.
