Well I went out and got the SB book. Looking through the sugegsted menus I thought "Great many of this is stuff I miss from LF days, especially the pita pocket lunches."
I then went shopping. I got some part skim riccotta, LC skim milk and a few other things. Looking at the wheat pita pockets I just couldn't buy them. They were like 30g carbs and I couldn't bring myself to get them. I may see if I can find some with less carbs and more fiber. I also couldn't buy the low fat or no fat yogurts. They were also so high in carbs (19g for them and only like 12 net for the whole milk).
I think I'll have to ease into some things a little more gradual.

I found a brand of whole wheat pitas last night that I tried today that were delicious. The brand was Kontos and they are flat pocketless pita made with whole wheat. They only have 19 carbs and 2 fiber each and are a good size.

Hi LadyBelle,
I don't think many here would risk plain 30 g carb pita before maintenance! I agree with Jenn - stick to whole grain (and not the enriched kind). Dannon nonfat plain yoghurt is 14 g carb and I have had it several times a week and I am doing fine, loosing slowly but surely now. You can look at the yoghurt threads that you might be able to subtract a few g (some 3-5 g or so - not 8 g as some suggest) because about 30% of it is degraded.
Gradual is really the thing - look for stall threads in this forum, and you will find most including myself did the mistake of starting too many carbs at once.
But if you are a long term Atkins dieter, don't combine in the wrong way! You can't add the carbs and keep the higher fat - that sure backfires. PLease post again here - - you are an experienced LC dieter - would be great to hear what you think!

Here is a nice thread with some great recipes that might help get you off to a good start. My parents do SBD and swear by this girls recipes. :) Best of luck to you!

I checked out the frogz site for some good recipes :) I might try to loosly follow the menus in the book for a bit. Some things I just don't like, or can't afford though, so substatution is in order :)
I might look into the Dannon. I remember there was something wrong with it when I checked before, but can't remember what. I might just break down and make my own using the LC skim milk.
I still need to see if I can find laughing cow here, or just come up with other snacks. I might stay away from it if it's too highly processed. :)
So is whey protien (1g carb I think and uses splenda) and unprocessed wheat bran ok? I could use that as a snack. I also saw a recipe involving cottage cheese, cinnimon and pecans. Yumm

I just bought blue bunny lite 85 it was fat free and 13 carbs for a container of it. They sell it at super walmart. I am not sure if it's on the okay yogurt list or not though. I liked the couple flavors I have tried anyway. Oh and in our grocery store, strangely, the happy cow display is next to the cold cuts/hot dogs/bacon and all that stuff rather than in the cheese section. Then again my store might just be really weird. I am in North Carolina mountains afterall. hehe I didn't see that cottage cheese and pecan recipe but sometimes when I am craving oatmeal and don't feel like blowing the carbs on the real thing I mix up cottage cheese, vanilla extract, nutmeg, cinnamon, walnuts or pecans, splenda and an egg white and nuke it in the microwave until it's a little dry. It reminds me somewhat of oatmeal or at least fills the craving for it.

I use the blue bunny lite 85 also I think it just fine for SBD...it is sweetened with splenda and no added sugars. The only sugars are from dairy.
Welcome to the beach!

Hi LAdybelle!
I am also trying the Beach! I am not sure if you get Yoplait Source yogourt in the States but it is really good and I think meets SB standards...here is the scoop:
Cals: 70
protein 4.s g
fat.1 g
carbs 13
sweetened with Splenda! It is vanilla stirred with 4 different fruit on the bottom flavours.
I have been on the Beach since Monday sitched fromAtkins and have lost 1.5 lbs so it is working for me and I feel better with more fruit and less fat. Good luck......

I found some carb countdown yogurt. It's 3 net carbs and splenda sweetened. It only has 80 calories :) Too bad I can't ge tit locally. I picked up 6 containers though (single serving size), so hopefully that will alst me a bit. Maybe I can do a special order request at some point after that.

I found those this weekend too. I liked them a LOT better than any of the other brands. The strawberry reminded me of the yoplait custard style that I used to love love love. ;) It's nice because the protein is high as well in those and they don't leave a terrible splenda aftertaste in your mouth for hours.

Oh forgot to ask, how is it going so far?

I found some Kangaroo pitas. They are wheat, have pockets and are 17g carbs with 2g fiber. I bought 2 packs and put them in the freezer for later.
Today is my actual first day, so can't say how it's going yet. Well actually I can becaus eI already had one small cheat. There was a cake being sampled at work. It was one of the fancy enrobed ones I would never buy. I had to have a bite to satisfy my curiosity :) I did only have a small bite though and stayed away from all the other temptations, including the LC cheesecakes :)

Well goodluck on your first day! :) I look forward to hearing how the switch over goes. I really want to dive in but not having the clear lines in the form of #'s is scary to me. I am so used to counting everything I put into my mouth even if it's a single almond. It will definately help to see how it goes for you.
