Just out of curiosity, how often does everyone cheat if at all. Or what would you consider a "cheat", too much lc oatmeal or a full blown "I want to eat this cake and just don't care" cheat. And if you cheat does the weight come pouring on or just water weight?

I don't cheat in the sense of sugar or I don't care. I haven't had any sugar or white flour or white rice since December except once when I was starving and had to choose between even more starving and a bagel and OJ.
I usually, and quite often, cheat in the sense of having more of the allowed - peanuts and wine and brandy, mainly. I also tried to make a rule to have only fruit or rice or whole grain bread, and have broken that rule (but the book would not consider it a cheat).
I have seen stalls, and blamed it on wine etc. - but I don't know for sure. I don't think a single cheat will do a lot of harm. When you don't have a lot to loose - true for you, and me now, that means slower loss. I lost 20-24 lbs in 3.5 months with a 1 month complete stall in between. But I would say I did cheat a lot in the sense above - I nearly daily had more peanuts than allowed, and recently daily 1 glass of wine. But I don't think I ever got my body into a sugar high or out of control. Can't say its important but may be.
I might eat some regular rice this weekend with friends, and some regular wheat this Monday night - ritual food. So I shall see how much damage that will be!
Curious what others think.

I decided to have some white rice not long ago, I was dissapointed. It was so flavorless. As for the wheat, it's ritual, so go for it. You ate it for years before going sbd I am sure and it obviously didn't kill you so one night of ritual foods I think I can safely say will be something you can live through. :)

When I cheat it's usually because of my lack of preparedness. Like I went on vacation and we stayed in a chalet that had a full kitchen. We were supposed to bring food so I brang my "Atkins approved stuff", just not enough of it. So I ate the chips and hot dogs...I felt sooo guilty too.
Other than that, I don't feel the need to cheat because the appetite is no longer there. I don't crave things, even the Frosted chocolate cupcakes I bake for my friends.

I've only had one 24 hour period where I lived in the 'I don't care lane'. Went to an Avs game in Denver. Stayed at the Westin which has a great lobbie/bar area...drank too many dark beers...went to the game ate a cheese steak w/bun and fries, and drank more dark beers. Got up the next morning had a scone at starbucks, and to top it off ate lunch at the cheese cake factory and if that wasn't enough, I had deep fried shrimp for dinner...I went back to Phase I for a few days with no bad affect on weight loss.
I occaisionally have more allowed carbs than I think I should and have had white rice several times. Whenever I think I've gone too far I go back to a modified Phase I for couple of days...I'm not sure it really makes a difference but it does make me feel better. I've found that it's really easy just to cut out carbs for a couple of days.

Mark & I cheated while on a trip to Mexico. We knew we wouldn't be back for at least 6 months. I had a lovely frosty Margarita and he had 2 Corona beers. No ill effect on weight loss, but sugar woke me and kept me up for about 3 hours in the middle of the night.

i usually cheat with the portion
seem to want more than the usual of 1 slice, 1/2 cup, 1 piece, 1 oz, 1 packet, 1 order etc etc
guess the rule is don't binge..can have 1 or 2 or 3 once in a while
