Are they thesame thing? Ever since starting Induction 3 weeks a go I have been terribly itchy (downthere). I have gone to the chemist to get 'Thrush Cream' to treat it. It works for a couple of days (5 or so) and then its back...So uncomfortable I am going mad. I read a couple of threads where people claim to use yoghurt - do you just slap it on?? How do you use it (besides eating it which is not allowed on Induction). Sorry if I didn't not put my queries delicately but I am desperate and need some answers! Thanking you.

Hi I really can't offer much help, but I do know that thrush and candida are the same thing. I had this problem years ago and couldn't figure out what was causing it. Yogurt does help all you have to do is eat it. I know it is not allowed on induction, however I know here in the US we can get acidophilus supplement and the pharmacy available without a prescription. If you go the yogurt route you have to get yogurt with active acidophilus in it, or it won't work. Might I suggest boiling your undergarments. My doctor recommended it to me and it seemed to work. Stay away from tub baths for awhile and don't douche. Yeast infections come from good bacteria running amok, so you don't want to disrupt it. Dr Atkins does say if this is a problem stay away from aged and fermented foods such as, cheese, nuts vingar, mushrooms, and pickles. He also says it could cause a stall or cause you not to lose any weight at all and other symptoms. If you have the book Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution it is all on pages 185-187. I haven't had the problem since being on this WOE so I can't speak from experience but I hope this helps. Good luck!

Also meant to ask, are you taking any antibiotics? Sometimes they can cause the symptoms you are having.

Antibiotics?? Well I take Zoloft (Anti-depressant) and the pill, that's all. I have been getting 'creams' to no avail but that's about it. I am thinking of going down to the health store and getting some Oil of Oregano Capsules and Acidopholus - would this work?

I don't really know anything about the oil of oregano, but the acidophilus should work. A yeast infection is when the good bacteria runs amok. (I know how good it be good causing problems like it does) The Acidophilus works by reining in, so to speak, the good bacteria. If you want to call your physician he or she could prescribe and medication called Diflucan. It is a one dose med that will make it go away in 3-6 days. Much better than those awful creams. My doctor would call it into the pharmacy without having to see me. It might be worth a try. I know how miserable it feels. If you do a search on the internet there are some web sites with home cures, you might find one that works for you. If you find something that works you can still take the acidophilus to keep it from recurring, sort of as a preventive.
Some people will use the yogurt on a panty liner and say that works for them. I am including a link for a web site for home cures. I hope one of these helps

I used the creams for years, yucky and they don't work for long. Then I found a natural remedy - Melaluca (Australian Tea Tree oil ) douche. I use a little of the extract in warm water twice a day and it worked in a couple of days. The Oil also worked to clear up fungus in my toenail. It is a powerful anti-fungal.
Just recently, I had the symtoms and after reading about Candida in Dr. A.s book, decided to try getting rid of it through my intestional trac as the vaginitis was just a symtom. I've been taking both a Probiotic to increase the good bacteria and Oil of Oregano to kill yeast. The vaginitis symtoms disapeared in a week, but I'm going to keep taking them until I run out.
Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you so much for your posts. I went to my local Healthstore yesterday and bought Acidopholus Capsules and Olive Leaf Extract. I look forward to a cure. I really want to try the Orgena Oil as well (they didn't stock it though). In the meantime the 'itching' is very serious so I will go down to my local supermarket/healthstore and get me some Yoghurt or Tea Tree Oil - I can't stand it any longer mainly the itching!!
Skyangel - your link is of great help!
