Hi I'm studying in America at the minute, and I am doing a project on low carb products for my uni back in Ireland, over here you can low carb food everywhere and there is a low carb version of nearly every food, you can even get low carb in the fast food places. I want compare the market here with the market in Ireland, what is the availabilty for low carb products like in Ireland, how popular is the diet at home now because here it is really popular everywhere you go you see the words low carb, are there more low carb food coming out in ireland, is there a big demand for it?, can any one help me out because it hard to get the ireland info on the topic from here.

Hi Eimear,
I'm living in Dublin and trying to low carb and its just soooooo hard to do. I have only found one or two Atkins products in Boots, some Healthstores do a low carb bar (rotton), but basically your living on your meat and eggs (not very exciting!!). It would be so much help if low carb foods were as widely available in Ireland as America. We should all write to Tescos, Dunnes etc to give them push in the right direction.....

Yes I find that doing lc in Ireland hard because I am from the US and am used to being able to pop down to McDonalds for a lc salad! I hope it gains enough momentum here in Ireland to encourage retailers to offer lc options!
