ok,w ell to begin with, if you are induction, 21 carbs is your ENTIRE day's worth of food. Why don't you tell us what you have been eating every day? A sample day's menu..

I've eaten the Wendys and McDonalds salads for dinner even in induction. NO croutons and take the carrots out (high in carbs!) I use my own Ranch dressing which is only 1 carb per serving. Eating these salads has not stalled me at all. I don't eat them all the time, but have probably had one a week since I started.

Hiya. Welcome aboard.
>>"So why shouldn't I feel discouraged and quit this.."
Because it takes more than four days to make up for (insert your age here) years of pounding your pancreas with sugar and starch.
The good news is that you're already close to your healthy weight range. The down side is that this is when it's hardest to lose weight. Practically everyone will slow down as they approach goal.
There are lots of people who have done really well and post their menus daily. Browse journals by clicking the http://forum.lowcarber.org/images/journal.gif below our posts... but not mine. I've been a little too busy to track my food here lately.
I can tell you in a nutshell what the successful people eat:
breakfast: some combination of eggs, sausage, leftover meat, or hard cheese, maybe a cup of coffee.
lunch: some combination of meat, eggs, and salad veggies from the list in the book, with dressing with less than 2 g carb per serving.
dinner: same as lunch with cooked veggies instead, if desired.
snacks: from the acceptable foods list only. Hard boiled eggs, cheese (watch the limit), maybe a cup of coffee (watch the limit on the cream *and* sweetener.)

Or, maybe you're not eating enough of the "allowed" veggies (like salad greens).
Doesn't look like much of a menu - I'd be discouraged, too - lack of variety and interest.

I have found that eating fried food slowed me down ALOT. I would stay away from them. Try eating some more veggies, like romaine lettuce... yummy. :) Careful about salad dressings though. Some of them have lots of sugar in them. I think you need to eat more too. Your menu is very small. Eating more is better! :)

ok...thanks this is good advice..
but my mom is also worried..she doesn't think that this is the right diet for me..because I have an underactive thyroid..but..I think it is cuz people with underactive thyroids do best when limiting the amount of suger they take in...but oh well..I'll stick with it for a couple more weeks and see if I do any better then I am now..

It doesn't soudn like you are eating enough...what about more variety in veggies and different meats?

it took me 8 days before I lost anything initially.
I suggest upping your veggies. Try to stay between 15-18 carbs a day with the majority coming from veggies. Thats at least 3 cups worth, also make sure you are drinking your water and LOTS of it. Bacon and ham are both very high in sodium and nitrites. You may want to watch your intake of those, maybe increase your fat intake some and make sure you are eating at least 1200+ calories.
You can try www.fitday.com to track your meals, fat to protein ratios etc.
good luck and seriously give it time. It will take a while, but the health benefits (aside from weight loss) are also well worth it.

Fit day is a terrific program, I found that I could really pinpoint the things that were adding carbs - like pepper - I had no idea how many carbs were in it! Good luck :)
