I'm tired of searching through google for natural sources of
potassium iodide - its apparently good for preventing the
thyroid gland from absorbing killer doses of radiation, which
means there's a billion and one websites trying to sell
bottles of the stuff in the event of a war time / terrorism
radiation outbreak.
So, can anyone tell me right here right now what natural
sources contain potassium iodide please. I'm going crazy
trying to find out...

... The trace amounts of potassium iodide found in so-called
"natural sources" are not going to protect your thyroid from
developing cancer in the event of a a nuclear fallout. You
need to take about 1000x the RDA or DRI in a single daily dose
of 130mg for up to 10 days.
This - if taken EARLY ENOUGH - will protect you from any
exposure to the radioactive isotopes of iodine (Iodine 131, or
radioiodine), although it won't protect from other radioactive
material that may also be released, or from external
radiation.

Jolly good but that doesn't answer my question - I'm not
actually bothered about the terrorist scenario and trying to
protect myself in this way - if you're dead you're dead - I'm
just curious as to what natural food stuffs potassium iodide
is in that's all (the only reason why I mentioned the
terrorist scenario is because google only comes up with links
that relate in some way to that and consequently its really
difficult to find out the information I require).

... Seaweed (Kelp) is probably one of the best natural
sources, containing from 0.4 to 1.3 % of iodine in the form of
iodide salts (e.g. potassium iodide).
