I love Smoothie King ~ needless to say, up until now, I couldn't have them on Atkins or South Beach. Well, now Smoothie King has come out with Low Carb Smoothies. I don't know much about how to read nutrition facts, so I was hoping that some of yall could help me out. I want to know if these would be ok in Phase 2 of South
Beach. Here is the info from www.smoothieking.com. I copied it on to here:

*6 grams of carbohydrates, 4 grams of impact carbs, 35 grams of whey protein, 225 calories; six grams of fat . Figures based on a 20-ounce smoothie.

LOW CARB SMOOTHIES: Vanilla, Chocolate, Banana & Strawberry

Calories: 225
Fat (gm): 6g
Saturated Fat (gm): 3g
Calories From Fat: 62
Cholesterol (mg): 6g
Carbs (gm): 4g
Protein (gm): 35g
Sodium (mg): 207mg
Dietary Fiber (gm): 2g

This nutritional chart is based on a 20oz. Smoothie. To calculate the nutritional information for a 32oz. smoothie, multiply by 1.5, and to calculate for a 40oz multiply by 2. Refer to this chart if you are regulating your intake of fats, calories or other substances.

So, what do yall think??? Is it ok? I had the strawberry one about a month ago, before I started back on the diet, and it was pretty good. So, let me know if it would be OK to have, I love them for breakfast or lunch!!!

Thank you for your post. I love smoothies. I have a smoothie maker. I am looking for low carb smoothie recipes. If anyone knows of a low-carb smoothie recipe, please post it. In the meantime, I will try the Smoothie King ones.

I tried a vanilla one at a coffee place. It was okay, but better with a shot of espresso added!

Matt ~ Wow, your stats are excellent! When did you start, and when did you reach your goal. Just looking at your stats gives me insperation!!! So, how was the bananna smoothie? Do you think that the nutrition facts say that it is OK? I am only in the 1st week of phase 2. I don't want to do something bad... (right now I am chewing sugar loaded gumballs) Let me know how it tasted!!!

I was jumping up for joy when our local SK brought out the low carb smoothies, until I had one. Wow that is one of the grossest things I have ever tasted. But I'm not into protein shakes at all, and it's a dead ringer for those shakes. But I'm glad other people like it, in the meantime I'll wait for the next new thing.

Hi All,

I think the fat content is a bit high but as long as you don't drink one daily it could be a good treat. Also,I guess if you were treating it as lunch and not just a snack it might be ok.It must have quite a few sweeteners and therefore could stall you.For safety sake, pay attention to what happens when you have one.The good thing is that it has whey protein so that may ofset anything in it that would cause cravings. While on the Fat Flush plan I made smoothies every AM with Whey protein and they kept me satisfied for many hrs.

I'm on P2 and in adding back oatmeal, I get hungry sooner.I don't get that way with really high protein cereal so I do think having some protein with the carbs might be the answer.I'm going to try having oatmeal and some Can. bacon instead of all oatmeal.Cereals with lots of protein(12 grams) do not cause me to crave.I think it is all about listening to your body, paying attn. to what stalls you,and having fun with it. I know there is a lot of conflicting info in the book but if we figure it all out amongst and within ourselves we might be better off for life in making good choices.

Linda
PS.Matt...awesome stats.I admire that!

Just get some chocolate protein powder something like Designer Protein. Then add in a one inch slice of banana. Use 1/2 cup of low carb milk stuff you can get in the store, a little water and 4 ice cubes. Blend it and there you go. No need to waste your money.
