As you are probably aware, the PCRM is a front for the PETA.

Here is a quote from the Center for Consumer Freedom

a phony doctors organization that has been exposed as a front group for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and has been censured by the American Medical Association (AMA). The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) has taken in over $1 million from PETA and the animal rights movement. PCRM and PETA also share office space, board members, and staff. The AMA has formally censured PCRM in the past, calling its recommendations “irresponsible” and “potentially dangerous to the health and welfare of Americans.” The AMA has also called PCRM a “fringe organization” that uses “unethical tactics” and is “interested in perverting medical science.”

Thank you, Angeline, I'm feeling much better now (I hope they're not going to use the list to hunt us down and spread untrue rumors)

I'm a little suspicious of those Consumer Freedom folks, but I despise the PCRM enough to go ahead and sign. I'm sure my aunt and uncle in the US don't mind me "c/o"-ing their address. :D

They don't hide who they are, a coalition of restaurants, food companies, and farmers, plust individual supporters. See their "About us" page: http://www.consumerfreedom.com/main_faq.cfm

Seems like we need our own investigation team to sort out these organizations! :)

But the DisInfo site accuses the consumerfreedome of being a front for restaurants, food companies and farmers, which the Consumer Freedom admit to (or brags about) on their "about us" page.

Ok, I'll probably get booed and hissed at, and have rotten high-carb fruits thrown at me, but... I can't really hate PETA.

this whole PCRM/PETA thing makes me sad. PCRM can choke themselves on a potato for all I care, but I have mixed feelings about PETA. I really admire their determination to expose animal cruelty, promote spaying/neutering, and discourage product testing on animals (some of this has been cruel and unnecessarily repetitive). I really do think that without stubborn watchdog groups like this (and there are some others), many corporations/establishments that use animals would continue to do so in an inhumane manner simply because it is much cheaper and easier to do so.

On the other hand, I wish they would stay the hell out of my fridge! I hate that they use and endorse terrorist tactics to make their point, and that they are willing to spread lies and misinformation in pursuit of their agenda. And sometimes they just do some really dumb things.

I would prefer to leave PETA alone, and that they leave me alone. I approve of much of their animal welfare work. I just wish they would stick to education and activism, and drop their sleazier activities.
