In the book, Dr. Agatston says that hummus is allowed. Falafel is mashed deep-fried chickpeas, mixed with some spices and fried up. I'm sure the fat content is relatively high since it is fried, but does anyone know what the GI load or carb count is for this? Thanks.

According to the USDA database:

http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl

one Falafel patty has about 6 grams of carbs. You can check out the rest of its nutrients by entering it into the search field.
