Hi I am in my second week of induction and I am totally craving a cookie!!! Is there anything available to curb this craving??????????? I am so ready to take the plunge! Induction has been great, until now on my 9th day!! Any suggestions?

Yes! A big hunk of cheese! Or, some leftover meats, hard boiled eggs, or veggies in creamy, yummy ranch dip. Any protein and fat snack will curb your sweet cravings. It'll work - give it a shot! :)

Do you have heavy cream in the house? Whip some up with a little Splenda. Or some say they nuke cream cheese with a little Splenda to satisfy a sweet craving (I've never done this one though). Guzzle some water. Talk to yourself and tell your self it will pass. It's normal to still have cravings at this stage but they will eventually go away as long as you don't give in. You want this too much to set yourself back who knows how many days for some temporary pleasure. That cookie will do nothing for you and just make you feel guilty when you are done. And by all means if you are hungry -- go to the fridge and find something LC legal. You can do it!

All of the suggestions above have worked for me. Grab one of the snacks that the other members have suggested, plus try and get some exercise or start a project around the house. When I start working or get some exercise I forget cravings.

I have pretty much already been living on boiled eggs and cheese, so I know that won't help. I will try the cream cheese with a little splenda. It's hard to get over this craving once it starts 'cuz this is all I think about until I give in. Yes, it is true that after you eat that forbidden food it doesn't feel as good as you thought it would make you feel. Thanks so much for your help.

Is the 1 minute of pleasure worth throwing you out of ketosis........possibly having to start all over, Making you feel like a failure. Keep the sweets out of site. Keep your mind off of them and busy.
Stuff yourself w/something else.
If you give in it may be the beginning of a wk or 2 downward spiral (usually is for me).
YOU CAN DO IT!

Take it from me! Been there done that and the cookie SUCKED!!! It didn't taste good at all, I found it to be bland. I had it build up in my mind how great that cookie was going to taste & when I ate it it didn't live up to my expectations at all. Never again!

My favorite Snacks:

Celery with roasted red pepper or salmon cream cheese or Peanut butter (just a little).
a chunk of Brie cheese
Chunk of paté.
Rolled up deli meat with mayo

hmmm and a BIG glass of Water helps

I just eat a FEW small bites of Honey Dew or cantelope....they're lower carb than most fruits, and just one or two squares eases that sugar craving.

:wiggle: WTG!! :wiggle:

Once you're off induction, it gets easier. You can have nuts, peanut butter, berries... all kinds of good legal stuff when your sweet tooth hits.

Invest in some Chromium and/or L-Glutamine supplement. Those are known and effective crave-curbers as they help stabilising your blood sugar. I pop Chromium now and then, other people rely on L-Glutamine. Chromium is usually cheaper and easier to get in your local health shop/drugstore.

I wouldn't substitute a sugar craved cookie with any LC/SF "frankenfood" such as LC bars or cookies etc right now as it just prolongs the craving pattern. Try to wean your tastebuds off that sweet taste instead, you'll be surprised how interesting other foods taste after a while.

Looking forward to those 5 carbs next week!!!! :yay: I am such a scrooge with my carbs, I hate to spend them unreasonably. Anyone else like that? I mean I really ponder eating a certain item wondering if it really worth eating and not having any carbs later on to spend. Normal? I think not!

I think the pondering is the key to success. Reading a label has saved me many a time. But I don't do it with things like lettuce and cucumbers and other salad stuff. Just the treats.

Sounds like you are on the right track.
