Hi, started my Candida diet 3 days ago. Hoping it will reduce symptoms of my Irritable Bowel Syndrome. My research of the proper diet has shown many discrepancies as to what is ok and what is forbidden.
Any help would be great for the following- just say yes (its ok), no (its forbidden), or your choice:
Kamut Flour:
Splenda as a sweetener:
Which oils are ok?-- Canola: Grapeseed: Soybean: Other suggestions?
Tea: are herbal teas ok or can they carry mold?
Brown Rice (pasta & RiceDream milk sub.):
Soy products (cheese, milk, etc):
Last, I found a soy sauce substitute called Bragg- its not fermented... is it ok?
Thanks for the help!

Splenda is made from sugar, so it's NOT okay...the only thing I could use as a sweetener is Stevia...an herb, and sold here as a food supplement, not a sweetener. I don't know how or if it is sold in Canada...but in the US I have to buy the kind called Stevia Extract Powder or Stevia Clear (a liquid)...and be very careful about quantity...1/16 to 1/32 of a teaspoon = ONE teaspoon sugar.
I wouldn't eat the flour or rice products....they can have hidden sugars and starches, which are NOT okay...
Canola, Grapeseed, Olive Oils...these should be fine.
Tea: It varies greatly....be careful that your tea isn't too old...some can carry mold.
Some soy products are okay...but be very careful. Soybeans are legumes, and, like peanuts (which are ALSO legumes) can become rancid...sometimes you can't even tell they're harboring the mold until it gets into your body and really messes you up. If you want to try any kind of cheese product, I'd suggest "fresh" mozzarella or "fresh" cream cheese. If you are lactose intolerant or strict vegetarian, the cheese is probably not an option for you.
Bragg...I've never heard of it....try it and let us all know about it!! ;)
There are a lot of discrepancies in anti-candida regimens...and what it all boils down to is pretty much what works out for you. I was told I couldn't have vinegar, so I tried to make my own mayonnaise and salad dressings....couldn't tolerate anything I tried, so I went searching for a salad dressing made without vinegar, and when I found one I was dismayed to see that the ingredient label included NETTLES, one of my allergies. Frustrated, I turned to a friend who owned a health food store, described my plight, and he told me that it didn't make sense to give up vinegar, because when digestion occurs, the body makes its own vinegar-like substance anyway...what's the point? That was all I needed to re-add mayo, mustard, and my favorite salad dressing....and it didn't seem to make any difference in my regimen! This is just an example of a "variation on the plan"; yours might be different.
Good luck to you!! :D

Great thanks, I kinda wondered about splenda. I can get Stevia here no problem. My brother has done a 4 month stint already and he did eat vinegar too and he felt better/lost 20 lbs so I will probably follow suit. Since its more for my IBS I will go without rice/Kamut flour and then reintroduce to see if I react.
Ingredients of Bragg All Purpose Seasoning: soybeans and purified water... its an unfermented soysauce I guess. I marinated some chicken thighs in it and it tasted just like soy sauce. Web is: www.bragg.com however they don't have this product on the site. Strange.
Thanks for the response!

Bragg sounds interesting....I think I'll inquire at my local natural food co-op. I would love to have a soy sauce alternative that seems so simple!
Thanks!! :D
