I read this somewhere in the news that BK would now have steak, a bigger burger, and not sure of what else in efforts to get sales up and keep up with low carb. First off steak from BK? I'm not so sure how it is going to tast. Second is it just me? All I want is for them to have an combo number (so that the people know how to do it - you ask for this and they get so confused) that is a double whopper no bread whatever you want INBETWEEN the two patties and a salad. Or don't have the salad whatever. Can't they just get the first step right WITHOUT the bread? I saw no talk of this. Yes I can take the bun off myself, but that's wasteful. Also when is this going to be all over? I went today none of it is there yet?????

the steak is not to launch for a few months on the BK menu.
as far as the taste goes it probably wont taste bad. the question is "how will they cook it?" will it get nuked? :Puke:

and what is in it? hydrodgenated oils? i'm sure that they'll contract a seasoning mixture from a commercial seasoning company and alot of those pre-mixed seasonings have stabilizers or flavor enhancers like the famous MSG.

I had the Burger King Meal Which is a Dbl Whopper with Cheese No Ketchup and No Bun in a bowl with a Small Green Salad, Tomatoes, Onions and Mayo, had it with a bottle of Water. It wasnt bad and great to have as an option. They also have the same meal with a Chicken Whopper.

I'm sorry, but I have tried Hardee's low carb "thickburger" and BK's "lc" whopper and Hardee's wins hands down. Bk's was tasteless and just blah. Hardee's has made a bigger effort in my opinion to cater to low carbers. They wrapped their burger in lettuce so it can be eaten just like a regular burger AND made it taste GREAT. BK on the other hand, threw the bun out along with all the taste and tossed the burger into a little black bowl with lettuce and tomato and onion, no mayo, no mustard. I also paid less for the LC burger at Hardees then I did at BK. Ironic thing is, the person on the mic at BK will ask you if you want that in a combo, and that combo is with fries...HELLO !

I agree Hardee's LC effort is WAY better tan BK's in both form and taste.

I haven't seen anyone here mention Carl's Jr.! I've tried 'em all as well and my vote is for Carl's six dollar burger! It most definitely won't win price-wise...but as for taste...it's tops for me!

I like the Carl's Junior burgers too... any of them LC are good... but still sorta afraid to be eating beef. Anyone else worried about the mad cow thing?!?

Carls = Hardee's

And BK is just a charbroiled beef patty, which has no flavor to begin with. And their steak will be the same, charbroiled. They don't use a griddle like other fast food joints for their burgers, and griddles is where you get the taste on the low quality beef they use because the juices and fat cook with the meat instead of going away into the fire.

But the BK option will probably be healthier, and they are the only place to replace a meal with a meal(salad and bottled water instead of fries and a coke)

what kind of rocket scientist are these fricking marketing people...i think its insulting IMHO...they see someone else doing it and they say, 'we can do that, just start giving people burgers without the bun..charge them the same.'

jeez...here's an idea...how about coming up with a low carb bun then you can pretty much sell your whole product line. how hard would that be...really...

as far as I know these companies do look at the COSTS associated with having LC buns, etc... they are too high initially so what they do is then look at what gets sold initially w/ the less expensive approach. If it is a success, they look at making enhancements. In time we will see LC buns, etc... it is only a matter of time.

There is no telling how successful they will be so they don't try expensive things. Subway gets away with it because they make their own bread and have lower costs because of it, and I'm sure the ingredients stay a lot longer unmade.
