HI everyone, looking for someone who lives in Phoenix who has found the low carb Doritos. I am willing to pay for the chips, shipping, and your time, if you are willing to ship them to me. I know I must sound crazy, but I am SO serious! If you are willing to help a true Doritos addict (I know, I know, this is bad), email me at ********, or PM me, I will use PayPal or whatever you prefer, thanks!

Hi Dena,

I'm a Phoenician. I haven't been on this board in a while so I hadn't heard of the Doritos until today. The next time I'm grocery shopping and/or at Wal-Mart, I'll look for them. I'll be grabbing a couple of bags of whatever I can find. If you are still waiting on them by that point, I'll post to you again.

I should be running out to the stores next week.

Take care and I'll be in touch.

Jill in sunny Phoenix, AZ

Hi again,

Just thought I'd let you know that none of the stores I've been to have it yet. I went to our local LowCarbMall.com store yesterday and they said people have been asking them about them too. Based on the number of LCers they see, they don't think they are here yet. If you hear otherwise (from others on this board), let me know. Otherwise, I'll let you know when I find them.

Take care.
Jill

Thank you both for this discussion on the chips. I live in Northern AZ and my husband gets down to Phoenix for work about once a month. He saw the newspaper article on it about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I thought by now they would be everywhere down there in Phoenix - too bad :(

Well, I've only visited a few stores in my little corner (central) of Phoenix... but based on what the gal at LCM said, I'm guessing they aren't here yet. I'll be checking, though, everytime I go into any grocery store or Wal-Mart.

Keep ya'll posted on what I find anyway.

:yay:

Howdy Y'all,
I'm new here but thought I would post that our Big Lots in Sevierville, TN has a tortilla chip that they are carrying (until they run out) that is called Garcia's Lo Carb Tortilla Chips. They HONESTLY taste like the real deal. Now, all of that said I might add that they are made with real corn and soy. It is a 10 oz bag. Total carbs are 13 grams with 4 grams fiber...so let's see...if my math is right they have 9 effective carbs an oz. (geeeez, that was a tough one  ) Oh, and if you haven't already guessed, an ounce is the alloted serving.
OK kids, hope this makes some of you happy. One more thing...they are $1.99 a bag. Not bad.
Ciao for now, Mary >^.,.^<
PS In all of the excitement I forgot to mention that they are made with pretty good ingredients....OH WHAT THE HECK...here are the ingredients: Organic yellow corn, organic soy grits, corn oil or sunflower oil, sea salt, water, trace of lime. They don't mention any hydrogenated fats...so I am hoping that is the case...they don't have any. They also say that they are made from GMO free organic corn and soy....OK, I'm outta here >^.,.^<

For all of you who live in Phoenix, you might want to watch channel 3 news starting at 4:30 today (Tues, Jan. 27). (It runs from 4:30-6:30 and some stories get repeated during that time, but not all.)

They eluded on the 10p news last night that some of "your favorite" food makers are getting into the LC thing... and they showed a bag of chips. So maybe we'll get some info on the Doritos today, like where they will be at, and maybe some info on upcoming products too.

Just thought I'd let you know. I'll probably post this as a new thread too in case the Phoenicians aren't checking here right now.

Bye for now.

Turns out they are trialing these in Subway restaurants according to the news report tonight, in snack size bags. I will hit a few of these tomorrow and see if I can get my hands on a few bags. Considering it was on the news tonight, it might be hard to find them now!

I'll keep you posted and let you know how they taste IMHO.

Hi Dena,

Well it turns out that not all Subways have the chips. But I did some investigative work, LOL, and got a list of those that do. Thankfully one is very near my house.

As I had mentioned, they are only snack size bags, but I grabbed you two of them (I didn't want to pickup more in case they were nasty.) Email me or PM me and we can work out the arrangements. (I think I activated this function correctly for my profile.)

As far as my "review" of them.... I think they are pretty good. They still have a bit of the LC chippy taste, BUT are very light and crispy. Because they are much thinner than the other brands of LC chips I've tried (like Carb Sense brand), I think they are much more edible. They don't taste EXACTLY like regular Doritios, but I think they did a decent job.

I'll wait to hear from you and get them sent off. BTW, each bag is marked with a tracking number so you can complete an online poll. At the end of the poll they give you an email address of a contact at the survey vendor. I took full advantage of this and told her to please pass on to Frito-Lay to get these rolled out nationally. They really are darn good and better than many LC chips.

Bye for now.
Jill
