I have read the atkins book and visited the website and now I think I'm ready to inch up my carbs 5 per week. I think I's lucky and might have a very low metabolic resistance. I have a question..... Some of these sugar alcohols scare me...even though some of these bars show net carbs of only 2 or 3 the 'real' carbs are much higher. Have people experienced problems with the bars (stalls, gain etc) is this widespread? thanks for your help I love this board I get lots of great info and support.

The bars are indeed an individual thing. And yes, they do stall people. The only way to know is to test them out. I myself have no problems with the stalling factor. But I do have a problem with the sugar alcohols in the candy products. They send me running to the bathroom! Does that stop me, heck no! The sugar alcohols however in the bars do not bother me in anyway. In there defense, they do have a lot of protien in them, and vitimans. But I personal only have them once in a while.

I personally never eat these bars. Consider them junk. Have tried them a couple of times and felt bloated and belly-raged. I make my own protein bar instead:

Also, I endulge in some dark, dark chocolate once in a while. These real chocolates, with 70, 85 or 99% cocoa give so much more than eating SF junk chocolate with only 40-50% cocoa. There are lots of health benefits to cocoa. Lindt Excellence 85% cocoa, for instance, only contains 2g netcarbs for 10 grams of chocolate (which was my ration, even during the later part of my induction, which lasted for several months...) and effectively killed any craving I had.

Here's the full nutrition table of Lindt 70% and 85% chocolate:

(The 99% one contains 1.34g/10g chocolate, I think.)

Best of luck with OWL! :)
