During induction period, I learnt that the total calories that I have to get should be 10 times as much as my weight. This makes 1300 calories. If I exercise daily and burn 500 calories, can I get 1800 calories and still keeping my carbohydrate level at 20 gr. When I started to my Atkin's diet, I thought that I would not count the calories anymore. However, now, I find myself not only counting my carbohydrates but also my calories! Does it really matter how many calories I get everyday as long as I keep my carbohydrate level at 20 gr? Would it still be effective to lose weight if I only watch my carbohydrate level?
thanks

Dont worry about calories, just worry about your carbs, it is crucial you only make your 20 carbs and you will see results (fyi also eat your veggies and drink your water, very important!). You want to aim for your calories from fat to be around 70% for maximum efficiency which might make your calorie intake high. Just eat freely staying within the rules and you will be fine.

If you are honestly able to eat when you're hungry and quit when you're not and don't eat for emotions or boredom or etc, then follow the induction list and get your 20 g and don't worry about the calories.

If you can't get as many servings out of the bag as the bag suggests, and half a gallon of LC ice cream is two servings, not 16, then you might need to pay attention to calories too.

If you stall, try counting calories before giving up.

But if you're losing on what you're eating, don't worry.

To tell the truth I never count calories. As long as things are going the way you want, do not worry about it. Keep in mind that you don't have much to lose, so progress may be slow in the first place.
