has anyone else noticed that with all the lc products coming out, 2 things seem to be happening:
1) these products are all higher priced than they ought to be (IMHO) like someone is trying to make some big bucks off the lc movement ( $18 for a can of Atkins shake mix...or russ stover lc candies twice as much as the sf ones. it's as if "low carb" translates to "Price gouge.....")
2) some of the labels are misleading or flat out wrong on their carb count because obviously a lower carb count is more appealing to the customer. yesterday I saw a bag of lc chocolate covered almonds. the carb count was 16g. 2 grams of fiber, and 14g sugar alcohols. they had "o net carbs" plastered all over the bag. HELLO! almonds have carbs! how can that company manipulate the data to make those carbs disappear?
Also, Dixie Diners club makes a carb counter instant pudding mix. the label claims 1/2 cup prepared pudding contains 3 grams carbs, 2 grams fiber, only 1 gram net carbs. yet when you read the mixing instuctions the pudding is made with CREAM! I'm sorry, but 1/2 cup cream has more than 1 net carb. how do they get away with that?
I get the distinct impression that these companies that are jumping on the lc bandwagon are able to manipulate #'s or use decieving wording to make their products appear lower carb than they reallt are. that really ticks me off!!!! all these people out to make a quick buck off of us!!!!!
