Hello, brand new here.... I stumbled on this site looking for people who have tried metaslim pills. I have both the metabolism booster and the carb/fat blocker pills and have been taking them faithfully since January 2/04, with absolutely no result. Well, no weight loss, though I do admit I feel healthier, more energy. I watch my diet VERY carefully, write everything down and weigh myself every morning and every evening. I take in usually less than 1000 calories a day, and am working towards more exercise, because up to this point I haven't done a whole lot, only about 30 situps a day, and 20-30 pushups and some basic stretching.
I would like to lose 25 lbs, and have tried everything. I keep my carbs down, and fat low, try to eat healthy foods frequently throughout the day, and nothing is working! It's driving me crazy. An example of my day= low fat yogurt for breakfast around 8 am, then a peice of fruit around 10:30 am, then a bowl of special k cereal at noon, a low carb snack bar around 2pm, and a salad with skinless, boneless white chicken or a turkey sandwhich on low carb bread. That's the very most I would eat in a day, usually less. Along with the pills (2 of the metabolism boosters in the am, and 2 of the carb/fat blockers 3 times a day) and lots of coffee and tea. I don't get it, is my body just too stubborn to let go of a few lbs? Has anyone else run into this problem? Any tips would be very much appreciated!

According your profile you choose Atkins. I would recommend you to reread Atkins book(s). Or revisit the Atkins site. www.atkins.com
Under 1000 cal, low fat yogurt, bowl of cereal, lots of coffee and tee, etc. seem to be out of place.

Hello Pondwader!

Excuse me, don't want to come across as rude, but are you serious with this posting? In your profile you state you're following Atkins and then you say you're eating lowfat and lowcal (1000kcal/day). You consume cereal, lowfat yoghurt, lots of coffee etc. None of this is following LowCarb ideas and definitely not according to Atkins plan. Fruit can be added on maintenance levels of Atkins, but aren't allowed in the beginning. Have you read the book?

I recommend you to begin learning about the Atkins plan here:
http://www.atkins.com

Best of luck! :)

Actually, I am not on atkins, I don't know why it says that, I must have clicked the wrong option in that menu when I signed up. I have looked into it, and may try it, but my main point to my post was if anyone else has tried metaslim pills and what were their results. My post had absolutely nothing to do with atkins....???
Didn't mean to upset anyone....lol

Oh, ok. That explains your "different approach". ;) :D

Well, as you're still posting on an LC board, as an LC:er I'd have to say that I see several potential reasons for your lack of success. First, these so called "carb blockers" are generally looked upon as snake oil. Second, it's probably counter productive to keep both cals, carbs and fat down. What you're doing is to put your body into "starvation mode", a phenomenon where your metabolism slows down to a minimum. And that's not really what you would want.

I'd suggest you read up on a well thought-out plan like - for instance - Atkins, or Protein Power, or CAD etc (you can check up different LC plans by clicking on the Quick Link to the right: "Which low-carb plan is right for me?".) Then ditch those pills, stop weighing twice daily (you won't lose faster by doing that, only get more frustrated) and see what will happen.

:)

Hi Pondwader,

As the other posters have explained, this is a low carb board. If you are not interested in low carbing, then I'm afraid you have come to the wrong place.

If you want support for your low fat, low calorie dieting (and possibly information on your diet pills), try www.3fatchicks.com or www.diettalk.com :)

I never said I wasn't interested in low carb diets, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered checking this out. I want to try anything that others have found successful. However, since those of you who have responded to my post seem neither friendly, nor welcoming or supportive, i'm guessing this is the last place I should have come, and will look elsewhere.
Good luck to all of you. Positive attitude is everything.

That was a strange answer and reaction, Pondwater. :(

I believe I was both supportive and helpful. I told you what I saw as flaws in the method you're using right now (which is totally against anything that works in LC) and gave you good, basic tips on what you might want to try out instead, while including links to good reading. Can't understand how you could interpret any of that as "not friendly, "not welcoming" and "not supportive". Maybe you should read my posts again.

Sorry, you're right, that didn't come out as it should have either... *sigh* not a great start.... but Rosebuds post threw me off I suppose.
Just overly sensitive when it comes to this subject. I am just SO frustrated with having no results from anything I have tried. I have gained 40 lbs in the last year and a half, due in part to a job I started at that time. It's a sit-on-my-butt-all-day kind of job, office with vending machines and fast food everywhere. I was too thin then, after going too far to the opposite extreme. I went from 178 lbs 12 years ago, to 130 in 4 months. Then I had my second child, and after he was born, lost weight again, down to about 115 lbs. Then after my third child the weight didn't go anywhere and i remained at 134 lbs for a while. Then, after some very stressful events in my life I had realized I had lost 25 lbs without even knowing it and was thrilled, so I kept going. Too far though, I went down to 82 lbs and almost died. So, I purposely gained a little weight, was at 90 lbs when I started this job, and went up to 131 as of boxing day. Not obese, but uncomfortably heavy for someone like me. I want to lose some weight, desperately, but need to be careful that it doesn't get out of control again, so my doctor advised me to seek out some support like this to help me tolerate slow and steady weight loss, so that I don't go overboard. I must admit, I have absolutely no patience for this. None of my clothes fit, I don't feel attractive to my husband or anyone else, and when I don't lose weight quickly it doesn't feel like I'm accomplishing anything. Based on the successes I have heard about for people who have taken up a low carb way of life, I want to learn more and give it a try. I apologize if i offended anyone, and hope you'll give me a chance.
Sincerely;
Stacey

Hello again, Pondwader.
That's alright. No harm done. :)

After hearing more of your story, I think you're doing a wise choice considering switching over to LC:ing. This is not a quick fix, but a long-term, healthy Way Of Eating (WOE) and a Way Of Life (WOL) that, if practiced correctly, will balance your diet and weight.

I learnt most about it from forever hanging and lurking on this board, plus reading the atkins.com website back and forth. However, it's a good investment to buy the book that describes the plan of your choice, since you'll always have it at hand for reference.

This board is magnificent, the best LC board on the net. The knowledge here is awsome and the people are great. It's a big community and you're bound to find friends here. I'd suggest you lurk around and read all you can and then make your choice after having collected more info on the different plans.

A great thread for beginners here:

Welcome and best of luck to you! :sunny:

Hullo Stacey,

I'm sorry if you thought I seemed unwelcoming, but from what you described yourself as eating, well, there's nothing low carb about low fat yoghurt or cereal. And as your primary question was about a diet pill (and diet pills are just plain unnecessary on low carb) I had the impression you were more interested in low fat than low carb.
If you are really interested in low carbing, you'll need to forget about eating low calorie or low fat. We need the fat to use as fuel.

You'll also do best if you choose a particular plan, and read the book of that plan. If you go to "Which low carb plan is right for me?" at the right side of the screen, you'll see summaries of the major plans. I strongly urge you to choose a plan and try it as written.

At the moment, you are simply starving your body, and it is hanging onto every ounce for all it's worth. Low carbing means you can eat more, and still lose. You should be eating between about 1300 and 1600 cals to lose weight safely.
You may find you don't lose straight away, because your body may take a little while to realise the food is coming regularly now, but you will lose on LC. ;)

All the best.
