Has anyone tried the Sara Lee Delightful Low Carb Bread? I seen it at the grocery store for $ 1.88 a loaf on sale. I have never seen it before. I did not buy any because on am back on induction but wonder if it tasted okay. I might purchase some later down the road. No a bad price. 9 carbs per slice.

There are much lower carb breads out there. In fact you can get Iron Kids Wheat bread for 9g net carbs as well. I think it's a marketing thing.
If it's only brea available in your area, then maybe give it a try. Rememebr though whole grains are one of the last things you add back in on OWL, so don't be too eager to buy it right after induciton.

If you're going to eat low-carb bread, at least make sure it's made with WHOLE wheat so that it will have a lower glycemic index value (meaning it will be digested more slowly because it has more of the fiber intact). Orowheat makes some in my area for 6g/slice net. Makes great toast! But yes, that is for "down the road".

I looked closer at it in the store today. It has 9 total carbs and 7g net. You can still get 3 or 6g net bread, but they are varying levels of goodness. The plus the the Sarah Lee seems to be
1. It's shelf stable. Some Lc breads have to be kept in the freezer because they lack preservatives (this can also be a good point)
2. It looks like regular sized bread. Most Lc breads I see are very small and while they are ok for toast, it's not really something you can make a samwich out of.
The bad points seem to be the higher carb count, and the fact it's a white bread product. For hardcore white bread people who refuse to eat whole grain or multi grain that could be a plus.
In any case it really should wait until you are close to goal, and then added in slowly in small amounts.

Bought a loaf...ate 2 slices...tossed the rest!
I'll stick with my Nature's Own 7 Carb (net 5).

I bought some to use in a breakfast casserole recently. It was a family thing, and I'm the only LCer, so I tried to be reasonable. The way I made the casserole, a serving would only get you about half a slice of bread anyway, and it turned out quite good. No one complained about it being low carb.
Course, the other half of the loaf is in my freezer. I'll have a piece every once in a while, but personally I prefer (and always have) whole grain bread anyway.

My husband and I bought the Sara Lee bread and love it. It's the only LC bread I've found not to be DISGUSTING. Just remember not to over indulge. Mama Lupe makes a 3 net carb tortilla wrap that I find good, too.

Brownberry has a new LC bread. Only 6g per slice, VERY GOOD!

Looks like everybody's getting on the lc bandwagon, but, so far, the Nature's Own wins with me.

Aunt Millie's has a low carb bread with only 4 net carbs and is very good. I also freeze it and only take out what I need. I have a question. How come you can't have a low cal bread if it's whole grain on induction? You would think that the amount of fibers would be a good thing and also being low-cal. I didn't see that info in Atkins book. Thanks!

I tried the white and it was fantastic. I ended up giving it to my wife and kids to finish though. I might pick it back up after I reach my goal for maintanance.

Even whole grain bread has way more carbs than you should be eating on induction, and the carbs on induction should come mainly from veggies.

Read through the ingredients on the Sarah Lee bread. I saw sugars listed at least twice.

I have tried the Oroweat whole wheat low carb bread, Sara Lee Delightful White bread, Atkins Bread Mix White, and Atkins frozen white bread and I have to say that the Sara Lee has my vote hands down. Probably because I've missed white bread so much! I am willing to add the few extra carbs in for the flavor! Sara Lee has 7 net carbs per slice. I use it to make a half of a sandwich for lunch or make 1 slice of toast in the morning (I don't have both in one day). The oroweat was ok but the slices are so small and they were 6 net carbs per slice. The Sara Lee also has sucralose in it. But of course it is not ok during induction but I am way past that point now!!

I thought the Nature's Own didn't taste like real bread. Can't really describe the taste it had. I prefer Earthgrains 35 low calorie bread. It has 7 net carbs per slice for the whole wheat.
Earthgrains is also who makes the Iron Kids bread. Sara Lee just bought Earthgrains, so if you don't have it in your area now......keep looking, it may eventually be there.

My son and sister, who are both on modified low carb, both love it. I'm the only strict one so I stick to the bread I get from the bakery at Whole Foods. It's very good but very fibrous. My son won't eat wheat bread so the Sara Lee is his favorite.

I found HomePride CarbAction white bread at Super Walmart, and I think its awesome. It has 6 net carbs/slice. $1.88 loaf.
