Hello,

I have gotten a copy of the book Good Carb Bad Carb and I do like that it lists what is acceptable and what is not. I totally plan on using it at the grocery store. I read most of the South Beach plan and it sounds to me like you are essentially eating according to the glycemic index. Here is where I get into trouble... How many calories/fats/carb should you be eating per day according to the book? They didnt seem to get into a lot of detail around this which worries me. Maybe I missed that section. I need to have some sort of idea of my plan guidelines before I dare to switch. I am afraid I will overeat and lose it without this.

Here you go

http://www.south-beach-diet-information.com/index.htm

There is no set number of cals/carbs/fats. The first two weeks no bread products or fruit or alcohol. Then after that you can have "good carbs" - those that are lower on the Glycemic Index chart. Typically a SB diet has lots o veggies, lean meats, cheese, whole wheat products etc.
