I just received a baking catalogue in the mail and to my surprise the back cover emphasises products friendly to Low carbers, including various nut flours. They have a website too: www.bakerscatalogue.com. I haven't compared their prices to other places, but I thought it was very interesting that a business devoted basically to flour (they are owned by the King Arthur Flour company)would make a friendly gesture to low carbers (rather than some defensive comments about bread as the staff of life, not eliminating food groups, etc.).

Good for them! I often make bread and cookies using almond flour (or ground almonds as we call them here.)

Ground almonds, ground hazelnuts... both good that I've tried. My cynical side says they make a bigger profit off these than wheat, which is at throwaway prices now.. so it's great for them! In any case, they're tasty and work well, so the more companies that offer them, the better!
My favorite cookbook using these and others is "Low Carb Comfort Food" by the authors of Protein Power. Lots of good recipes for dishes you'd never think you could make reduced-carb. (Most of the recipes are only suitable for OWL and later stages of Atkins, though.)
