I am afraid that that is exactly how my daughter thinks of me! LOL She tells me one of the worst days of her life was the day I decided to be healthy! We have got to find some lc comfort foods :)

I love Cathy. There has been a strong low-carb theme in her comic strip over the past few months. It's quite hilarious.

You can go to http://www.ucomics.com/cathy/ to see old strips

What recipes have you tried and enjoyed in the LC Comfort Food cookbook, potatofree? I have made many awsome recipes from 500 LC Recipes but none of them meet my daughter's list of comfort foods. I think she probably misses pasta the most. I love cooking and cookbooks so please advise :)

There are pasta recipes in it, but the only ones I've tried are the coconut layer cake, one of the cookie recipes, and the bread...without a doubt the BESt I've tasted so far.

The next one I try will HAVE to be the "Deluxe Low Carb Mac and Cheese" or the Pasta "Fried Rice"...<drool>

Some of the recipes are definately for later OWL or Maintanance, but there are variations to make them lower-carb as well.

I agree...well worth the 25 bucks I spent on it.

Lisa N-- yup. I balked at the price myself, since I'm a collector of online recipes usually. However, it's a whole that's greater than the sum of it's parts. Well-written, easy to follow, LOTS of explanation and background. Just altogether more complete than I've found online.

Thanks potatofree! It goes on my Amazon list. When I accumulate enough titles to qualify for the free shipping I order...but if that book is $25 I won't have to wait :)

I love the bread too ! I make it every week. I've modified the recipe to make it with oat fiber and it's even better

Me, too. I've added the Low-Carb Comfort Cookbook and Dana Carpenders' 500 LC Recipes as well to my Amazon.com wishlist.

Thanks for the tips. It's great to find stuff that is tried and true.

I've also seen a couple of LC baking books out there but I'm not sure how good they are.

I've been a pastry-head since I was a little girl, so much so that it makes no difference to me whether it is wheat or soy flour, or if there's no sugar in it--just as long as it is a nice savory pastry  .

I tried the "Elegant Biscuits" recipe... Hard to tell there's only 5 grams of carbs in it. Even the kid ate one and never suspected a thing.
