This is "Orang's" son-in-law. "Orang" is out of surgery and in the cardiac unit. She is still loopy from the knock-out drugs, but the doctor said she did really well in surgery. They were able to get out all the stuff they wanted to without hurting some ligament they were worried about - the doctor talked like this would make her recovery a lot quicker and less painful.

That is good news! I am glad to hear that about Renee! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay
She will still be in our thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery!
Good moring everyone! It is snowing like crazy here, I had a good work-out already by moving cows and choring, my dh had to help a neighbor so I was the lone chorer today! But It is a good start to the workout day, I am glad to have a treadmill, my outdoor days are through I am afraid! Although we did get 8 inches awhile back and it all melted! How is everyone else's weather??
I am going to step on the scales this weekend, Wish me luck!! :) :) :) :)
HELLO to you all! Have a good day, I will try to get back on later!

Just a quick note as I am in the office today.
Renee, we're thinking of you and sending positive thoughts. Take it easy and recuperate. Don't rush things. I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well.
Today's weigh-in was still 165. That being said, this morning I tried on a pair of slacks I haven't been able to wear for more than a year. They fit perfectly, with even plenty of "breathing room" in the waist and hips!
:yay:
I'll check back in later tonight.
Wendy, got any hot dates lined up for the weekend?

Thanks to Orang's SIL for the good news. :yay: She is in our thoughts as always
Still stressed out but TGIF. Had lunch with an old friend and just ate what I wanted-a Croque Monsouir(sp?)-it's sourdough bread dipped in egg with turkey ham and swiss cheese. I don't do that that often so I enjoyed every bite before I go into high protein low fat mode.
Grocery money is now available and I will shop for a LFL type of 'cuisine '. Would still like to know everyone's thoughts on how to do the protein day or do I just start with the weight loss days?
Bawdy-way to go!!!
Lissette, re: weather-you'd be jealous. It's actually in the high 50's, low 60's here for the next few days. Of course we had a deluge on Wednesday and I even got soaked through my raincoat (time to water repel again, I guess). Of course I don't have any cows to play with and I am still only hunting for a pair of matching socks

Hey all! I've been soooooo busy. I feel like I've had no time for anyone else at all.
Renee-I'm thinking about you:)
Elaine-Happy belated birthday! You mentioned being concerned about protein days b/c of the low level of carbs. I am hypothyroid, and that one day doesn't seem to be hurting me. I only go as low as 30g and the rest of the week I am at 50g per day minimum, most days over 60g. So if that's all that's keeping you from doing the "Wendy Plan," I wouldn't worry about it.
Grady-As a matter of fact....That's why I've been so incredibly busy. I've been spending so much time with him it's ridiculous. I am now staying up till midnight or later several days per week, and somehow manage to wake up the next day at 6 am to teach. I don't even remember what I last told all you guys. Sunday we went to a movie, dinner, and came back and hung out at my place till very late. Wednesday I went over there and we watched "When Harry Met Sally." Then last night we went rollerblading immediately after school, he offered to take me out to dinner again, but I said I would cook for him so he came over. I grilled chicken and sauted zucchini in butter, tossed the chicken in, and melted parmesan cheese on top. I added a nice salad, and voila, dinner. He loved it. He knows I am an extra picky eater and has never made me feel weird about it in the slightest. After dinner we watched Friends and hung out and talked (which we seem to do soooo much of, but never seem to run out of things to say), and I showed him all my picture albums b/c he wanted to see them. Oh, and in a couple weeks we are going to see Barenaked Ladies together b/c they are coming again, and he didn't go last time. It's just the most bizarre thing. I don't mind at all that I am getting no sleep. I love spending time with him, but don't feel smothered at all, b/c we still have our days without talking. It's just scary how close we've gotten in the last, what, 3 weeks max? It totally feels like we are dating, but we've never talked about it, and there's been nothing physical at all in the relationship, which makes it all the much better. This is actually the first time I have sat down and had a chance to think about things, so that's why I think I am saying so much. I'm leaving in a couple hours to go to Cinci to see my best friend tonight before she moves back to Phoenix. I'll be staying in her hotel with her and then tomorrow we are going to hang out with my other good friend who actually lives in Cinci and watch the OSU/Michigan game at her house. When I am going to rest I don't know. I am loving things right now, though. My weight was at 150.5 this morning, so I am still hovering ever so close to the 140's. Someday I will get there, but right now things are just good.
I hope you all have a wonderful night and weekend, and I will write more soon!

Wendy, I'm truly happy for you. Now refresh my memory. This is a guy you work with? He's a teacher also? Is he new this year or did you know him before? DETAILS, I need DETAILS!!!
I actually have some good news, too. DH and I have been talking on and off for a year or more about buying a Bowflex machine. I got on their web site the other day and was blown away by the price ($1999 plus $200 shipping for the top model, the one we would want). We have some other equipment at home, including 2 "home gyms" but the Bowflex would do the job of all these combined. A friend at work (the VP -- it's nice to have friends in high places!), told me he bought this model a couple months ago and just loves it. He paid almost $2300 for his.
ANYWAY, I found one on eBay today (just fooling around) and the bid was $950 for this model. Since this was the last day, I figured, "Why not." So I put in a bid. It stood for most of the day, and then around 4:00 someone upped it to $1200. Well, the "buy it now" price was $1400, so I just bought it.
:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
I figured $200 more wasn't that bad. It's new, never been used, and it was offered by a reseller so I get post-purchase service from Bowflex. I'm having it delivered to work and will store it there until Christmas. I'll take the instructional videotape out of the box and wrap that up for under the tree. I'll probably also wrap a few fake gifts, too. We have a rule that once it's under the tree, the other person can't touch, kick, or otherwise disturb the package.
I can't wait to see the look on his face! I even have a couple people at work interested in buying some of our other equipment to give us room for the bowflex.
:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:
Enough about me.
Anyone heard from Orang again? Her SIL said she was doing well, but a little loopy. I can't wait to hear from her again!
Wendy, one more question. You said that you go down to 30 grams of carbs. On protein days? On my protein days I eat NOTHING but protein. No carbs at all. Or maybe a couple because I use half-and-half in my protein shake in the morning. But that's it. I'm confused. (Elaine, you can always try a protein day -- my way or Wendy's way -- and if it bothers you, don't repeat it.)

Orang -  :bhug:  So glad you are ok and home. Big wishes for a speedy recovery.
Wendy - HOW EXCITING!!! I love the beginning of a relationship :rheart: I remember when DH and I first started seeing each other. We spent hours and hours on the phone talking. Before we ever met we pulled an all nighter on the phone! So romantic :)
I am absolutely exhuasted! We got up early this morning and took DD out to the Casino where DH works to see the Hot Air Balloons set up and take off. It was pretty cold for here and we about froze to death! It was alot fun to watch and they even had a balloon that was a pig! So much for my "when pigs fly" reply. Then DH and I took DD to school and went to breakfast and then on to XMas shopping. Came home briefly (bedroom exercise  ) and then off to pick DD up from school, take her to the orthodontist, then to the hospital to see my neighbor, then the craft store, grocery store, then home. Then after I get home went to neighbors to tend the cats, scooped poop, changed water, put food the their feeder, played with them a bit, took out garbage and left. Came back home cooked dinner........CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!!!
 Rob, lissette, Elaine, Kristine, Marjorie, Bawdy, and anyone else I may have missed.
