I've been on the low carb diet for one year and even though I've plateaued, I don't give up. Hopefully, I will fall under 200 lbs one day. I generally float every single week between 202 and 210.
I am diabetic (type 2) and normally run in the 90's to 110. This past weekend though, I've been running in the 60's. I feel as if I can't get my head off the pillow and become very lethargic. My wife thought at one point that I went into a coma and threw water on me to wake me.
Orange juice (I think) makes it worse. I rises for the moment, but then I come crashing down again. I can't put my finger on what's causing the low blood sugar from coming on. I don't belive I'm doing anything different. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear from someone.

Hi. I am type 2 diabetic also. Occasionally in the past I have had low blood sugar as well. My reasons were not eating frequently or my medication being too high. Are you on medication? I was initially taking 3 of my medication daily, one at each meal and I've noticed now that I only need to take one as my blood sugar was lowering too much. I'm not going off them yet, so one a day is ample for me. Possibly with this diet, you're blood sugar levels are now stabilising and you don't need as much medication. Your best best would be to probably go see your doctor and have another test. Before I started dieting my fasting glucose was a 12 which meant type 2 diabetics and I went and had another one done and I was 5.3, so my doctor said to not take 3 daily but 1 daily and to see how things went. I hope this helps. It's definitely not a nice feeling. Also why are you having orange juice? Oj is just pure sugar (albiet fruit sugar, but still the same). I would stay away from oj even if I weren't diabetic. The sugar rush is way to fast for our bodies. Also are you eating every 3 hours? That does help. Just spread your meals out to have them 3 hours apart and that helps tremendously with blood sugar levels as it balances it out and you don't get any highs and lows.
Take care and let me know how you go.

Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. My suggestion would be to go see your doctor ASAP. What's going on is not normal for you and is obviously interfering with your daily activities. If you are taking any kind of blood sugar reducing medication, it may need to be reduced. Otherwise, some blood tests might be in order to determine what is going on.
